    Fender suggestions

So have this Brat/bobber build that I very crudely installed a stock rear fender that I've been runnin for the last two years. I've now decided that I'll properly install a new rear fender but I'm looking for ideas/suggestions also pros and cons for mounting to the swingarm or to the main frame...

    Piston slap or rod knock

So I've ruled out cam chain and other issues and have come to grips that the noise my bike has been making in one or the other. I'll be taking the engine apart soon to get the real story, but is there an easy way to tell one for the other? Once I conform the issue, where is the best place...

The slow and unsteady VI swingarm bobber build

I do not, but I've used the old school method. Seems to be coming from the front top end, but I don't have the educated ear to tell exactly what it is. Posted via Mobile

The slow and unsteady VI swingarm bobber build

Haven't had a chance to get back in the garage until now. I'm still getting the ticking with the stock adjusters but they appear to all still be adjusted to spec so I'll be reinstalling the ones from mikes. Now I need to decide where to go next. If it's the rockers or cam, what could be...

    Camshaft play

Almost completely certain it's valves. Cam chain guide was replaced two years ago and my right side exhaust valve always reads too large of a gap after just a couple rides. Posted via Mobile

    Camshaft play

Sure have. I've even trien new elephant adjusters and put the stock ones back in. The noise keeps coming back. Posted via Mobile

    Camshaft play

My mistake 5twins. It was the advance rod you wrote about. And as it turns out, my advance rod has the movement, not the camshaft. So that bit seems ok. I'm just trying to rule out as much as possible with my continued loose/ticking exhaust valve. Posted via Mobile

    Camshaft play

Thanks for the reply. Bearings were seated all the way and measurement was taken with the probe end of a caliper. I just needed to know if play was normal. Previous searches turned up a reply from 5twins stating 2mm of side to side play was ok and I was searching for confirmation. I have...

The slow and unsteady VI swingarm bobber build

TwanyXS1Bs, thanks for the reply. I pulled and inspected the tappet adjusters but they all look good, no chipping or pitting. FWIW, I've using the mikes adjusters since last summer. I don't recall if I had the ticking beforehand. I replaced the originals because they're a PITA to adjust without...

The slow and unsteady VI swingarm bobber build

So I pulled the coil wires at the caps ad reattached them. One side, the side that shows rich readings, may not have had a good connection (the threaded part wasen't lined up with the middle of the coils wire). I'll fire it up this afternoon and do a plug chop. Also, anybody have thoughts...

The slow and unsteady VI swingarm bobber build

Well, I'm finally back at it. Haven't touched the bike other than firing her up and zipping around the block to keep things moving since last post. And of course I'm back with a new issue. I've been messing with the carbs to try to remedy the popping on deceleration and I'm getting...
