PMA's and Starters. Idle Curiosity Here.

I am using a Kawasaki clutch lever which is more substantial and has provision for a switch which I've wired in series with the start button, so starter motor will only work when clutch lever pulled in, happy with that arrangement

    Heiden Sump Filter- Reviews?

Yes I have been running this with the side paper filter conversion for about 3 years now, all good, just clean at oil change time and replace paper element. However, mine was one of his first ones and supplied a post mount which was intended to provide support, it obviously didn't!. I...

get rid of hump in seat using stock seat pan later model

Can be done using quickly detachable later seat but it's a load of work. Basically you modify the pan to fit a standard foam and use a standard cover, seat is still QD. To finish off use standard side panels

    vintage supermoto style

Hi, I shaped the foam on my seat using a flap disk on an angle grinder. Take your time the foam disappears quick and makes a mess but you can make nice smooth curves

Which woodruff key for Rd250/400 flywheel PMA

Hi You need to make a stepped key. The slot in the crank is narrower than the slot in the flywheel. Measure the two slots and choose the largest and then file to suit. Alot of people don't bother with the key. The key provides location only, the drive is through the taper. On my set up...

Slight weep both sides of head beneath plugs

Evening, I'm after a bit expertise please. I've done about 350m on a rebuilt motor (1980) and now have a slight weep of the head gasket on both sides just below the plugs. I did a re-torque, remove and anti-seize and the acorns are now at 32 lbs ft and the 8mm bolts 17 lbs ft. No real...

    Aligning chain and rear wheel??

I agree, but this part of the test only came in October 2014 and you have to ask yourself why? If your frame has a touch of the bananas, then get get it fixed, but just move your rear wheel slightly off centre and run a straight edge to your front wheel, allowing for tyre width you will see a it...

    Aligning chain and rear wheel??

Wheel alignment is now part of UK MOT test (anything to get bikes off the road) and when my xs was tested they were out of alignment even though the adjusters were on the same mark on the swinging arm. Now the marks don't line up but the wheels are aligned, about 1/4" is about what mine is out...

    Bs34 carb, need help

Peanut I had the hanging idle problem on my rebuilt motor and carbs (BS34). I had completely stripped and rebuilt carbs with new Yamaha throttle seals, yet the RHS one was leaking. When replacing this, I noticed it was sitting flush with it's housing. When I put in the new one I made sure it...

Do i need to re jet

Funky - you've got BS34 and their needle position is not adjustable. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of your increased capacity may be able to suggest different needles/needle jets. All other carb jets can be had from http://www.motocarb.com/

Ignition is 90 degrees out somehow

One thing you want to consider is that Boyer's are very volt sensitive, drop below 10v ands you are in trouble. I think that when voltage drops the ignition advances. Do you have your charging system and battery in good shape?

    UK Members on here???

Hi, I'm in Essex. As well as the suppliers mentioned, Granby Motors is good for OEM parts, with a part number they will tell you if they have it or is still available. Also have the name of a good crank rebuilder in Essex if anyone wants it.
