I had backfire problems last year and it was caused by my exhausts gaskets that were not tick enough, i replaced them and it immediately solved the problem.

Oh too bad, i was about to reply that i was ok to sell it. Good luck finding a RD400 engine in good shape, two strokes engines die younger... Cheers!

Haha! Good job! I'm happy if i inspired you to go two tone. By the way, it's no biggie but the Yamaha type you have on your tank is the Yamaha Musical instruments logo with the "M" not going all the way to the bottom. I know, i'm a graphic designer and we can be annoying with those...

I'm pretty sure it's a Yamaha FS1 tank, they also made them in racing yellow.

I don't want to hijack this thread but i just saw an online ad for this lot of bikes for sale near Montreal, no idea about the price though.

It's a 16" not a 18" as seen on the tire.

The tank is probably from an 1976 YZ400 (alum) or a MX 400 (steel), it is not a direct fit at all. The tanks from 250 also looks similar but i think it is a bit smaller.

A slightly bigger, metal Streetmaster tank that bolts righ in would be awesome!

I've been having the same noise on my 83, i have no idea where it comes from.
