    Any interested buyers?

I would feel terrible getting rid of it for anything less than $1500. Maybe I'm too stubborn, but if nobody is interested for that price then I will just hold on to it. PROS: Garage kept for the last 2 years, kept under a cover for the 6 before that. October, 2014 -New air filters installed...

    Any interested buyers?

Hello all, Let me start out by saying that I really don't want to sell my 650, and I am in no rush to do so. It is a 1981 "special II" and it was my first bike. I've had it since the Fall of 2008, and it's got a lot of sentimental value to me. However, after picking it up from the shop today...

    Wobbling left to right

Thanks again to all of you for your help. I really don't have much knowledge beyond basic maintenance and a couple little projects over the years, so your knowledge and wisdom has impacted the life of my xs I'm sure. Please accept one of these virtual beers as a token of my appreciation.

    Wobbling left to right

The shop actually informed me that the wheel bearings were the correct set. However, I have already ordered the collar and new wheel bearings and they are expected to be in early next week. The shop will install them for no charge.

    Wobbling left to right

My wallet doesn't like your suggestions but I guess my life does...should I ask the shop to buy them since this is somewhat of a mutual mistake?

    Wobbling left to right

I honestly know nothing about wheel bearings. He sounded pretty confident about them being ok, but then again, they didn't know something was wrong the first time around after they said it was ready...

    Wobbling left to right

*UPDATE* The shop called. It turns out the wheel bearings WERE the correct set, and now I just need to order the collar. The shop owner says the wheel bearings are not damaged and that they will not charge me to have the collar installed. Problem solved.

    Wobbling left to right

What is a "po"? Also, are you saying that it isn't worth trying to negotiate a discount for the upcoming labor since it was somewhat of a mutual error? Most importantly, THANK YOU to you and everyone who has helped me with this issue. I can't believe there is still a shop left that has this...

    Wobbling left to right

The shop said they held on to the balls from the old bearings, but the rest of it was "disintegrated"... Does that sound normal at all?? Also, check out the attached picture. #8 is the part they are saying my bike needs, it's a little collar piece they say was destroyed over time. Anyone know...

    Wobbling left to right

Turns out my rear wheel bearings needed to be replaced... I ordered, from Mikes XS, the rear wheel bearing kit with seals, that says "fits all 650's" and just had them installed this past Friday. I went to pick up the bike and quickly realized the wobble was still there. Well, I turned right...

    Wobbling left to right

Hey guys, Got on my 650 after a month or so and realized that it started wobbling pretty badly above 15mph or so.. Last time I rode there was no issue. Does anyone know what might be the problem? Anything I can check? It was a little scary to ride so I only got up to about 30 mph before I...

    Electric Start issue

When I touch the screwdriver from the metal part under the red cap to where the flathead part is touching, the electric starter fires up and starts the bike. The problem is, the "start" button doesn't work. What do I need to do to get it to work?

    Gear selector mechanism is stripped

I forgot to screw my gear selector lever back in and it came loose. Had to stop on the side of the road because I couldn't change gears. Stripped the thread on both the lever and the gear selector mechanism. Definitely will be buying a new gear lever but my question is, how easy or hard would it...

Where is the source of my gas leak?

I may not know everything about it but for the most part I take really good care of it, changing the oil, new cables, tires, chain and sprockets, etc... So selling it is not an option. It's also got a lot of sentimental value being a gift from my dad

Where is the source of my gas leak?

I'd been driving that bike almost everyday for 5 years up until my license got suspended in January. It's my own fault for not treating it right while knowing it was gonna sit for a long period of time. Now I am paying for that. Once I get this problem fixed it should be ok

Where is the source of my gas leak?

So I'm thinking about getting the pod air filters that clamp on to the carbs. Wondering though, since the stock air filter box connects on either side(joined by a "T") with the fuel line that starts at the top of the engine, what happens to that?

Where is the source of my gas leak?

Got my carbs back today. They look a whole lot cleaner than before. The guy at the shop found the source of the leak and it is the fuel T line between the carbs. It's got a bunch of little cracks in it. Anyone ever replace theirs before? I was told I'd have to separate the carbs to do it

Where is the source of my gas leak?

So after rethinking everything I decided to bring my carbs to the shop. I bought rebuild kits from Out West Motorcycles and they were delivered to the shop on Friday. Carbs should be cleaned and rebuilt by Tuesday and possibly even tomorrow. After thinking about it I decided I'd rather just pay...
