    Clutches for the less strong?

Yep, got arthritis in both hands. EZ Pull from 650 Central fixed that. You need both the cable and the lever. The only way I think you will get easier is to go hydraulic.

    Hagon shocks

Ive got Hagon shocks on 3 of my bikes and obviously like them a lot. They are great value for money. I've had them made both in US and UK. My XS has roller head brgs, Race Tech emulators, bronze swing arm bushes and Hagon shocks and it rides very well.

    Minton Mod on front forks

I did the same with my forks and added Race Tech emulators from 650central. Made a big difference to the ride and handling

What have you done to your XS today?

Pulled the cover off it after 8 weeks, a quick dust off, air in the tyres, checked the oil, gave it a kick in the guts, lubed the chain and started riding it again. I love this bike.

Bike turns off at random times

I experienced the engine shutting on and off thing some time back and it was just as if the ignition was being shut off then turned back on again which turned out it was. The problem in my case was a bad ignition switch plug connection in the headlight bucket. Turned out the lock tab broke off...

    Electronic ignition options?

I'm in Philippines and don't have a lot of options when things go wrong. I run pamco and had a dud ignition connection and fried the green card a couple of years ago. thought shit that's it while I wait for a replacement. Emailed Pete and he talked me through it, explained how it worked and I...

Looking for a billet fork brace.................

I've got this brace on my 78 Special and like it a lot. It's Tarozzi and high quality. I like the fact that's it tough and doesn't shine and works well with the standard mudguard.

What have you done to your XS today?

Pulled it out of the storage shed 2 days ago. It's been sitting for 6 weeks under a cover. Set the tyre pressures and checked the oil. The battery had enough to give me a neutral light but not enough to turn it over. Primed the fuel and it fired 1st kick so I lubed the chain, rode it home and...

Quick update on the MG V50

I've got a small block Guzzi and agree with weaslebeak about Dyna S ignition. My bike immediately ran better after I installed it. This is a bike I will never part with either.

    Honda VFR hydraulic clutch question

Scotchmist, my apology for taking so long to post this. I'm currently in Zambia at work and my internet went down and took until yesterday afternoon to get someone to fix it. Specs are as follows : Slave cyl service limit : 38.18mm (1.503") Slave piston svce...

    Honda VFR hydraulic clutch question

I'll pull up the actual ID and post later tonight for you. I've got a Sabre that runs that slave cylinder and can verify that it's a very easy pull with heavy duty clutch springs. I'm at work at present but will pull up my service manual and post here in about 6 hours time.

Calling Retired Gentleman - Brembo Upgrade Questions

Hi DE, what ever you do, don't go with the original twin disc setup that some XS models were released with as you receive minimal extra braking for a whole lot of extra hardware and weight. I know as I went this way and am regretting it now. RG's setup is far better and MMM at 650central offers...

    Clattering Sound in 5th Gear

Please post what you find once you tear it down with pictures. I'm very keen to see the outcome. There's been much discussion about these gears but I haven't seen much in the way of reporting on failures. I'm running these gears also and have done about 10k on them now without an issue. Like you...

    HP Oil Pump from Mike's

I run a high output pump I bought from De-Muede in Germany. They call it a "plus 50%" pump. I bought my bike used and had a top end failure due to lack of oil shortly after, repaired that then had a crankshaft bearing fail. Rebuilt the engine and had to replace the pump as the ring the rotor...

    How CRAZY are people

Probably should make a few things clear about warranty in the case of this engine Daddy, especially after the work just gone into it and the fact you've had to hand craft everything to get it right. Some people just don't get it at all.

Restoring 1981 XS650 as my first bike!

Hey Gunnar, listen to the advice on offer from these guys. Too many projects get started and end up going in the wrong direction or just stop. Get your bike running and make it reliable and safe. Forget cosmetics, that will come later. Ride it in all conditions for a year or so then you will...

What have you done to your XS today?

Took the cover off it, pull it out of the shed after 6 weeks, dusted it off, fired up straight away and idled perfectly. Then rode it 26k's home. I swear I've got all of the bugs out of this bike and it's very reliable now.

What have you done to your XS today?

I've been away this past 11 months, so dragged the cover off, pulled it out of storage, new tyres, battery and re-rego. Serviced and going great again. I'm really impressed with these Shinko tyres. I fitted 230 Tourmasters to the XS but I'm also running a set of 712's on an old V45 Sabre...

what other hobbies do you have?

Before settling in the Philippines I used to fish a lot and enjoy extended boating trips out of Queensland. I ran a 47' pleasure boat with a couple of mates out of Cairns and also spent a lot of time fishing with another mate way out wide from Rockhampton in his 30' sportfishing boat. We also...
