Those harnesses weren't that great when they were new 30 odd years ago.
They are called stuts, and the fastest way to swing arm failure.

Two tricks we sued to do back in the day:
1) Cut diagonal line with a hack saw across the shoes.
Helps evacuate the dust and water faster.
2) Port the brake drum. This you will have to look up how to do.
It comes down to drilling holes in the brake surface part of the drum...
POR 15 has a great tank liner. Use any media to get rid of the scale, then pour the POR into it, and swish it around, let it dry.
Dont forget to pull the petcock, or you will be buying a new one.
