    speedometer overhaul

I plan on it as soon as I am up and running for good. Thanks for the info. Wasn't sure how the speedo worked. I was starting to lean towards a good cleaning and maybe a new cable if necessary, since I don't like the electronic one. You helped me make that decision. Jerry

    speedometer overhaul

Has anyone heard their speedometer making a ratcheting noise? The ratcheting noise gets quicker as you accelerate. I am thinking it might be a stripped gear internally. The speedometer registers, I think accurately and doesn't appear to have a fluttering needle. I have read a post from...

Baking paint on a gas tank

Even after painting with the Nason paint, I had issues with the paint not liking gas. Long story short, I stripped all paint and took the tank to a local paint shop and had it professionally done. Least amount of money I spent on the damn thing. Another good lesson learned.

Installing Mikessx new electric Speedo and Tach

Has anyone installed the Mikessx electric speedo and tach? The directions sent from Mikessx leave a lot to be desired. Any recommendations, as for as how you wired them, 180 or 360 degrees, attached the magneto/coil? wire for the tach, how the magnetic pickup for the speedo is attached, etc...

I can't make it this Sunday. Waiting on a throttle sleeve and grips. They are due in on Tuesday. Once they are installed a shake down cruise and hopefully I should be good to go. Keep up the thread for rides and any other pertinent info. Sweet bikes by the way.

Baking paint on a gas tank

I went to the automotive paint shop today and bought the proper Nason primer, paint and clear coat. I will hopefully get it done tomorrow. Let this be a lesson for anyone wanting to cut corners and do paint cheaply. Don't use the Auto Zone Duplicolor. The store manager doesn't even know it...

Baking paint on a gas tank

Thanks men, I appreciate the info. It is finally too messy here to ride anyway and I will need something to keep me busy over the Holidays. I kind of felt I needed to start over. I hate it when that feeling is probably correct. Ha

Baking paint on a gas tank

The paint is not sticky. After I painted it back in August, I let it cure in our Texas 100 degree heat we were experiencing for a couple of days, then wet sanded the orange peal and buffed it out. I kept the tank in the garage while I was getting the bike running and tuned. I actually had...

Baking paint on a gas tank

The paint is Auto Zone's Duplicolor Base and Clearcoat. I actually painted the tank back in August. Evidently, not being a painter, I applied too many coats and it still has not cured correctly. Found out from a small amount of gas getting on the tank and in the paint. The store manager...

Baking paint on a gas tank

Has anyone baked paint on a gas tank lined with Red Kote? If so, did it affect the Red Kote lining? I was told by a painter to bake the tank at 300 degrees for about 30 to 45 minutes to help with the curing process. Before I do this, I want to make sure my Red Kote lining will not be...

    No spark at the plugs

Yep, kinda figured that would cure the problem from other suggestions. Hard headed Dutchman as my Mom use to call me. Had to try to fix the TCI first. In hindsight, which is always 20/20, wish I would have saved the time, effort and money and went straight with the Pamco from doing the...
