Quieter muffler,,,yeah I know its not cool
I have an '81SH that I'm moving into a cafe configuration one step at a time. I don't like the stock mufflers looks. I also have hearing loss and tinnitus from the unbaffled drag pipes on my shovelhead chopper. I've been thru the 'louder is cheap insurance against cagers' and 'louder is cooler'...- larksnostril

Right case cover won't slide back on
"81 Special: I removed right cover to fix kicker. Fixed it and did nothing else. Now the case will not go back on. The large gear of the tachometer mechanism (which has been working fine) appears to be impinging against the nut that holds the tachometer drive gear onto the shaft of the oil pump...- larksnostril

I just bought my first xs650SH..'81 Special, two owners, stored inside, 8400 mi, good maintenance, no oil drips, compression is 150/152, runs great, super clean, feel lucky to have such a great bike!!
