I keep starring at this old Yamaha trying to decide what to do with it. Originally I was going to restyle it to look like a conglomeration of old British bikes. Mostly like an old Royal Enfield Interceptor. In my googling around these internets I've found some good looking old Horex motorcycles...

I'd like to "reconfigure the YAMAHA script on the engine side cover. To do this I'll weld over the lettering , grind and sand it flat then re-machine the script. Has anyone had any luck welding on these side covers? What rod did you use. I'm thinking 5356.
