Calling Seattle Area XS riders! Meet?

Every third Wednesday of the month in Ballard, if you haven't been (and even if you have) is definitely worth the visit. I'm in Shoreline, but my bike is on a lift and in devoid of wiring, carbs, etc... so probably won't be joining on the XS, I do have a CB though...

    How true is true?

So I guess my real question is where does the point of diminishing return begin. Is 2mm the point where there are going to be issues in handling, and if possible getting it closer clears them up? I imagine that although Billy Lane CAN get his rims within a few thousandths of an inch, I'll bet...

    How true is true?

I'm in the process of building my first set of wheels and I'm pretty close to having the first one true'd up. I'm curious though how true do I need to get? I've read up to 2mm in either lateral or radial runout is "within" spec. I'm actually closer than that both ways measured with a dial...

    worst riding weather?

Rode home from a concert about 12 years ago at the Gorge on an FZR600 in Eastern Washington. The wind was incredible heading out over the columbia river, then went from a sunny 75 degrees with wind to a freezing 40 degree's with wind heading over the pass into western washington. By the time I...

    soda blasting

I built one of those in the video, and for an extra $10 at harbor freight you can get a little hand held hopper blaster that works 100% better and you can use just about any media you like in it. For my money the harbor freight blaster is the way to go if your trying to do this on the cheap...

My first build and first XS650

Lookin good! I really like what you did with the rear brake, and having the frame act as the, not sure what you call it, anti-rotation arm. Great idea, I'm going to look into something similar on mine.

Anyone use fibral lite u-pol in place of bondo or lead/non lead fill?

I just remembered I'd bought a pint of "fibral lite u-pol" for something I can't recall and I never used it. I'm at the point where I'm cleaning up the frame, filling in the the welds and cleaning everything up. I was thinking bondo but I know it'll crack with time. My other thought was...

19" Heritage Special 64 spoke replacement wheel?

Anyone know where to get one? I just got my new 18" rim for the rear and replacement spokes for front and rear, and after seeing how nice the new 18" hoop is I'm thinking it would be nice to have a new one in front to match. Mikes doesn't sell a 19" only a 21"? HELP!!!

Giveaway: Exhaust from Pandemonium Custom Choppers! (ends 11pm CST January 1, 2012)

I should win because I've been looking at those pipes, and have been picturing just how bad-ass they would look on my build. My wife thought I should include a picture of the reason I haven't just gone and bought them yet (my 3 week old son Mason) and the bike they are destined to go on. So...

anyone with luck shaving fork lowers without a lathe?

Thanks for all the responses! I ended up doing it by hand too; started with a hack saw, went to a couple files and then wet sanded starting at 220 and working up to 600. I'm probably going to end up powder coating them but until I decide for sure I'm not going to polish them any further. I...
