Paulrxs650: Thanks for the reply. I am well aware of the differences between the HD's engine design, and the xs650's. I'm not very concerned with fuel economy nor performance. I will probably never take this bike above 75mph. I AM concerned with burning up valves/rings/seals, as I am rebuilding...

I was thinking of maybe (probably not) adding baffles to quiet the sound. I live in Chicago, the furthest I really ever travel is 7 miles, and won't be riding it more than once or twice a week. Going to/participating in car shows isn't something I do.
