    Feedback for jchrisk1

I bought a Kerker 2 into1 off of jchrisk1. All in all, a good experience. Just make sure that you pay him right away or he'll send your stuff to you one piece at a time. Delay further and you'll get a visit from "Big Tony".

Can we please put an end to the "long connecting rod" myth??

Seriously people. I don't know how many times I need to explain this. In order to obtain the theoretical benefits of a long connecting rod, the rod would need to be a couple of feet long. Pick up a scientific calculator with the trigonometry functions on it. Calculate piston movement for both...

Ignition systems: Boyer Bransden vs Pamco

I called up 650central today to order some parts and got an earfull of advice from Mike. I told him I was planning on running a Pamco ignition and he said that the Boyer Bransden was a far superior piece. Is he just being a snob or is there a major difference bwtween the two units??

    Suggestion for Open Discussion Forum

This site has a ban on discussion on religion and politics (and by extension, philosophy as well) and undertandably so. Those topics result in flame wars erupting all over the site and it creates alot of work for the moderators. However, there's a solution that I've seen work very well on...

    Suzuki GS questions.

I don't belong to any Suzuki boards, so I'll ask this here. Are there high compression pistons available for the GS 850 engine? Are there big gas tanks that will fit the GS 850? Are there easy ways to take weight out of those bikes? (they are very heavy for their displacement)

Wanted - XS1100 or similar bike

I'm looking for a bike with which to survive the Zombie Apocalypse. It needs to have 3 things: 4 cylinders, shaft drive and a kick starter. I'll take any bike in decent shape that fits those requirements.

    The "Corrupted Wish Game"

OK, the object of this game is fairly simple. You grant the wish of the poster above you, but add in negative consequences in the most creative manner that you can. Example: "I wish I won $10,000,000 in the lottery" (next poster) "Granted! but your psycho ex-girlfriend comes over to...

    Nippon Denso Tachometer

I scored a Nippon Denso Tach that was off of a John Deere snowmobile. Can this be adapted for use on the XS? I'm assuming that the snowmobile was a 2 stroke twin, so does that mean that it will only read 1/2 of RPMs unless I have a waste spark ignition system?? BTW, the part # is...

Thinkin' on trading my 750 Nighthawk for a GS500

Before you accuse me of blasphemy (or worse) here's my reasoning. I mostly use my NH for commuting to work/school (20 miles on PCH), and for trips into the Sierra Nevadas and other nearby parts of the National Forrest. My NH has a 17 tooth front sprocket which helps its range slightly (20...

Ninja EX500 carbs on an XS650?

Without looking into this, I was thinking that this might be a good idea. Has anyone tried this, or am I just high on low-grade crack cocaine (again)??

That "Short History of America" thread reminded me of a pic I found that describes WW II in a Facebook format. Enjoy! :D

Weight difference: Mag vs Spoke wheels

Well, I'm disassembling my '78 special and weighing all the parts I take off. I don't have tire levers to take the tires off my mag wheels, so I was wondering how much these bare rims weigh. Also, if you have any weight saving tips, you can post that too!!! Oh, one other thing, does...

    long ram intake manifolds

Come to think of it, I have yet to see a tracker or cafe XS650 with some kind of racing oriented long ram intake. In order to get it to have its peak effect at 6500 RPM, it would require that the intake track be 20" long from air cleaner to intake valve. I was thinking on making my own...

    Kawasaki 750 Twins

Saw this 750 LTD for sale localy and was mildly interested in it. http://santamaria.craigslist.org/mcy/2620382211.html Is there much in a way of an aftermarket for these bikes? I was interested in it to build a highway cruiser that could survive the Zombie Apocalypse. I want a bike...

    Wanted - MAC 2 into 1 exhaust

Pretty straightforward, just want a used one in OK shape. I'd also be willing to take any other brand that has 1.5" headpipes and prefferably, not chrome plated.

    Drilling stock rotors

Is there a quick and easy pattern for drilling holes in a stock front rotor? or do I just have to sit and try to figure out a hole pattern myself?? I could do this on mastercam, but I'm having a lazy moment. :bike:

    Cam regrind service near SoCal??

I'm thinking on having my cam reground on my near-stock 654. I'm looking for a re-grind profile that can be used with stock springs. I hear the original XS1 grind is a pretty good improvement over the stock (78) grind. Does anyone know of a good regrind service in the SoCal area and if...

    Crankcase vacuum pump?

I was browsing MikesXS last night when I saw a PCV reed valve that claimed a slight HP increase due to the fact that it created a slight vacuum inside the crankcase. (Cage)Racers have been doing this for years, except that they use vacuum pumps to get even more crankcase vacuum (20 in or so)...
