I just picked up a gallon of concrete etching solution from The Home Depot for $17.00.... it's main ingredient, aside from water, is Phosphoric Acid....

When you purchase your Phosphoric Acid... what name is it sold under? I've been asking around and most people just look at me with that puzzled look on their face! We have Home Depot, Lowes, McClendon's, ACE, etc... I'd like to get some, but can't seem to find it. I am soaking my 79 XS650...

Well... I tumbled the tank for awhile in the drier and the BB's did some some work. Looks like the major stuff is gone. Now I'm going to have to get some MSR or something similar and see if I can soak the rest of the rust away... I'd like to get the tank back in shape so then I can tear into...

Are the stock shocks on an XS made by K&B?? Not sure if mine are stock or not, as the bolts look like they've been off at one-time or another. They have K&B stickers on them.

I have the tank all padded up and rotating the the dryer right now, with 6000 BBs in there tumbling around. We'll see how that works to get the majority of the big stuff out...

Thanks. Yeah, I'm not into cutting them all up and bobbing, chopping, etc... I'll leave that to those with more time on their hands. My Dad had a 400 Special in '79, and then moved up to an '82 Virago 700, which was a sweet bike. I want to leave this as stock appearing as possible...
