    tkat fork brace.....

I hate to throw you another curve, but... have you seen this? I consider it more of a cafe part but like the integrated brace and fender. http://motolanna.com/ourshop/prod_502447-Fender-Front-Bobbed-Stainless-w-Brace-SR500.html They are in Thailand but I have read here that they are pretty good...

its in ! as the actress said to the Bishop ..~

I hate to make a suggestion, well after the fact... but. I am on my first build also and have watched enough episodes of Cafe Racer and Harley Build shows on TV. On one, and only one, build I saw a couple of old guys that took the engine and laid it on it's side on the ground (softly on...

    tkat fork brace.....

I think you have a decision to make. There are a couple of schools of thought in fork brace design: The Gordon Scott, Hugh's double loop that attach to the fender mounts and the CNC piece like the TKat, Tarozzi and Omar's that attach to the grooves in the top of the lower fork that the dust...

    Independent cone filters

I found the pic's I was thinking about. http://www.xs650.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25773&highlight=Uni&page=2 There are three so better to insert the thread with the narrative.

    Independent cone filters

My opinion: I have the XS Performance oval air cleaners from Mike's on my 1980SG. If I were to do it again today I would use a Mikuni velocity stack with a Uni over it. I have seen pics on this forum, by smarter guys than me, and it looks like a very effective solution. There has been...

    Street Tracker Assembly

From NZ to NorCal... Back on 8-3 you posted some shots with a couple on your electrical system. I wrote on 8-4 that I would be watching and that the way you set up the tray made me think. So here is credit where it is due, I have attached a couple of shots of my electrical for my 1980SG...

Magazine Article in Barnett's Bike Craft

The magazine just came out but I found it on their website. Barnett's owns an HD dealership in El Paso Texas and publishes a couple of magazines. http://www.barnettharley.com/barnettsmagazine/feature-bikes/racers/ode-to-xs.html#.UhqXL9Iqh8E That should help.

Magazine Article in Barnett's Bike Craft

I just received my Summer 2013 edition and Mark Barnett wrote: Ode to XS - The publisher ponders a Yamaha Street Tracker. Nice article from a personal perspective. http://www.bikecraftmagazine.com/

New Motolanna swing arm, what does the stock one weigh?

I just went back and looked at some notes. I have a 1980 and for the swing arm and bolt that holds the swing arm to the frame I show 10.6 pounds, the metric conversion shows that equal to 4.8081 KG. Not an expensive scale but probably close, I would not commit to exact! Good luck.

your homebrew controls/switch mounts...pics or it didn't happen

I like the idea of a covered toggle switch. Looks race ready. I found this switch plate but I don't know how I would use it on my current build, but I like it. http://www.thehotrodcompany.com/shopnow/show_item.asp?product_id=2987F

your homebrew controls/switch mounts...pics or it didn't happen

I am a little concerned buying an electrical switch for under $7. Especially with the vibration our bikes are famous for. I found this switch for $35. I have not bought it yet so no practical experience to share...

    Battery options??

I am pretty close to buying a battery for my 1980 Tracker build. From what I read in this forum the Shorai you mentioned or this Ballistic are both good choices. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271138211732?redirect=mobile

I have a luggage rack and locking box like MikesXS sells. I am also in Elk Grove so no shipping. Or did you mean the stock grab bar with taillight? I have that too. Send me a PM if you are interested.
