Does your carbs have a stamped steel top or aluminum. R your jets located in the bowl or the body of your carbs. Just tryin to figure out for sure what carbs you have. The jets you pulled sound like pilot. If you have bs38 them are huge pilot jets. In the mean time I would go to the tech section...

Why did you take the carbs off? Or I should ask why you went up a jet size? Did you mess with the mix screw at all. Are black plugs seated right. It sound like one of the pilot curcuits is plugged .

I turned the rpms down till it just about won't run. The change is suddle I guess I was expecting a sudden change like the rpms going up cause then there is talk about adjusting it back down with the idle screw.

I am working on adjusting the air mixture screws. Doing the dead cylinder method, Anyway I turn the mix screw makes no difference in idle. I am assuming something is clogged in the pilot curcuit? Or what else could it be?

Just curious how do you know what model xs you have? The specs are different for each. Say u get a bike and the motor is a different year then the frame? Posted via Mobile

Thanks for the tips! I did bench sync the carbs as best I could before I put them on. I used the hole where the mix screw comes out for reference. The fluid at first tried to take off but a few adjustments and it stayed in the tubes. I can get it pretty close but not right on they stay pretty...

I just got done rebuilding some different carbs for my bike. I can tell that the carbs are out of sync. I have made a manometer. Do you adjust the mix screws before you sync or after.

I just have to ask cause a lot of the time the simplest things are over looked. When u did the leak down, did you make sure you where at tdc on the compression stroke on that cylinder. Posted via Mobile

Running aftermarket exhaust and no airbox prob got to hot and seized up. Prob melted a piston or two. When the piston melts it lets go of the pin that holds the piston pin in and starts to really mess things up inside. I just repaired a bike that very thing happened to. Posted via Mobile

The blue doesn't really bother me. I just thought it meant the motor was running hot. But beans the exhaust is single wall aftermarket. I can see why the pipes get hot so fast. I'm going to try different pipes and different carbs I think mine r have something screwed up inside. Maybe revisit...
