For Sale - 1977 Yamaha XS 650 D Rolling project for building ~ Maine

May not be, don't know yet. A Miata would be a mistake, it'd take a crane to get me out of one after 20 minutes. Something with 4 wheels and a clutch tho.

For Sale - 1977 Yamaha XS 650 D Rolling project for building ~ Maine

Gosh, thanks for thinking of me guys, but I'm SELLING motorcycles, not buying them... I think there's a Gen4 Mustang GT calling my name, gonna do a little research tomorrow.

    1966 Honda CL77 305 Scrambler "Next"

That's exactly like the one I had in the Philippines in 1971. Same color and everything. Good Times... $53 a month for a Goat. You couldn't buy that car now for $53 a DAY!

    Speaking of First Ride

Grandson just texted me that he got home safely on his new toy. He said "This thing is dangerously fun!" Exactly right, if you give your inner child too much leeway, it WILL get you in trouble. Nice to know he's enough of an adult to realize that. In other news, I'm going to have to rethink...

    Speaking of First Ride

{Sniffs, wipes tear from cheek...} Grandson just rode off on the FJ. Big chapter of my life comes to a close. That FJ was the most bike I've ever owned and the source of the most grins ever. I hope he enjoys it half as much as I did. Also sold the BMW for Dale the Builder that we've been...

    Heritage Special Lower Side covers

I'd need a stop calendar to time the printing on those things!

50/50 ATF acetone mix for stuck engine ?????

It does settle out which can be a problem if it's a long term project. I suspect it works because the acetone will creep into tighter spots than the ATF and carry some ATF with it before it separates. Just guessing tho.

    Speaking of First Ride

Oh, fer shure. Too many great people (and great bikes), I'll leave here when they carry me out... @WideAWAKE that's exactly the Jeep I'm looking for. No overdone lift or tires, just a nice, basic fun ride.

    Speaking of First Ride

That it does, but I had more than 55 years of two-wheeled fun with nothing worse than a little Honda Rash and a few pair of ruined skivvies. Plus, it beats hell out of the alternative. So far, at least...

    Speaking of First Ride

I will be keeping/finishing the CX650 so on those occasions when I just can't stand it any more, I can go for a ride.

    Speaking of First Ride

Well, younger grandson got approved for a loan to buy the FJ off me (at the friends and family price, of course) and will take possession Sunday if things go as planned. I have approval from the CFO to "reinvest" the proceeds in a used Jeep. Shopping for a CJ or a Wrangler, stock-ish (if such...

    Speaking of First Ride

I don't know if I mentioned it before, but most of last Summer and Fall, I had a lot of hand pain that the Doc attributed to arthritis. For the last 3-4 months it's been much better. After my ride yesterday, it's back. Logical I guess, making a fist to hold the handlebars for an hour or more...

    Just Ride.

No Pix, but first ride of 2024. Just breaking 50 here, rode to Bangor to hit the hobby shop. Saw 70° in the parking lot. Planned to stop at Chik-Fil-A for lunch but it was packed to overflowing, so I passed. About 130 miles all in. Chilly, but well worth it after a long wet Winter.

Well, it wasn’t my exhaust dragging.

That looks like a crayon in the pic. Marine?

Mrs. Downeaster did it again - "You enjoy modeling so much, why don't you spend a little money and ..."

Finished pond, with dam, beaver lodge, beaver and a turtle sunning itself on the rock at lower right. With the 3D printer fixed, I was able to print some seriously tiny critters. The fox is up in a corner of the woods waiting on dinner to wander by. Bambi and her Mom dining on apples in...

I haven't. If more problems crop up, I do that.

    Well bugger me...

At the moment, I'm shickled titless with the new textured glass plate, but I'll make a note of your suggestion and try one if I have more trouble.

    Well bugger me...

Possibly the texture has "filled in" with remnants of prints that isopropyl alcohol won't remove. One day when I'm in an investigative mood, I'll try cleaning it with acetone and see if that helps.

    Well bugger me...

As you know, I enjoy 3D printing and do quite a bit. In spurts, to be sure, but collectively enough to keep a couple of spools of filament on hand. Lately, I've been struggling to get proper prints. It's critical that the first couple of layers of a print adhere to the build plate properly. If...
