How long do these motors last before rebuild

Pretty good and tough engines. I ran my X650 racer for three seasons. We did two three hour endurances the first year and afterwards ten full bore 7500 rpm road races per season. Tuned 750 engine, about 55 HP at the rear wheel. Now it needs new pistons and crankshaft bearings. I'm rebuilding it...

I've replaced mine by traditional ones, after the revision sets did not deliver the promised results. End of irritation.

    Let's See The XS's

With the tophalf painted and mounted, my XS650 road racer looks even better, I think. Ready for the second half of the season. Jobs for this winter: raising the rear end, high level exhausts, stronger front fork springs, repainting the frame, 18" front wheel.

Giveaway: Set of rims from Mike's XS (ends 11pm CST July 8, 2012)

Our bike could use a nice set of rims. We're racing the bike in Dutch and Belgian classic events. The present rims are rather dented. This pic is from the 3 Hours of Oss 2012, with my mate Tajan van der Wiel aboard. Pic: Inge van Hesteren http://www.festinalente.nl And yes, we could...

XS650 at 3 Hour pre 1987 Endurance, Oss, the Netherlands

May 27th, 10:35 p.m, nice pic of my mate Tajan van der Wiel, aboard our Motorsport Harlingen team's tuned XS650. On one of the oldest bikes at the meeting, we finished in very good shape, against a host of four cilinder 1000 cc superbikes of the late seventies and early eighties. Half of them did...

    XS360 tank on a 650 question

Here more pics of my XS and me. I've been racing the bike since August 2010 in Dutch historic regularity runs. A lot of function, not form. We have about 65 HP. She doesnt have a speedo, but she'll do 195 kmh on the straight. That's 123 mph, I think.' The frame, forks and swing are extensively...

    XS360 tank on a 650 question

On my XS I fitted a XS750 tank. It fitted very well, cups and mount lined up fine, but on the underside I had to dent the metal one or two centimeters with a rubber hammer, to clear the cylinder head.
