Swing arm brace - chain rubbing

Stock swingarm with a welded on brace underneath. Similar to this thread: http://www.xs650.com/threads/swingarm-brace-vs-crossover-tube.48249/ All alignment is perfect, rear has longer shocks so that may be contributing The lower chain run rubs against the brace if there is anything more...

Swing arm brace - chain rubbing

Same here mate. Not enough clearance for the chain on the swing arm brace. Chain has to be on minimum slack. Not sure of the fix. I may likely get a notch cut out and re-welded. A bit of work and will need re painting, but not really enough room to adequately strap a guide of some sort...

    Mikuni TM34 jetting

I’ve just ended up at this exact same setting. Had to keep dropping the needle to get it to run clean at half throttle. Seems to be running fine now, but I suspect a leaner needle is what is needed with the p4 needle jet. I do have a P6 needle jet and 6f5 needle available, so could try either...

    Oil Change and Sump Filter

Nah, you will be fine. They don’t need a lot of torque. I tighten all bolts with the socket to finger tight. Then go around again with the ratchet until if feel the bolt grip. Then finally, holding the ratchet at the socket end, “nip” up the bolts, not even 1/16 of a turn. Holding the ratchet at...

    Anyone using Electrex World ignition?

Thinking about ignition system as I rebuild my engine. I have been looking at crank based systems and came across the Electrex World system. Looks good but only gives out 50 watts power from alternator. I would have to go with LED for all lighting. Anyone use this and have an opinion? How does...

Cleaning inside tank with Milkstone remover

I have heard people just using vinegar either neat from a catering bottle or in a 50/50 dilution with water. Leave it in a couple of days and works a treat. Vinegar is just acaetic acid, and much easier to dispose of.

    OLd BoNeS NeW BLoOD

I see. Great idea. So you fixed a plate to the frame to hold the electrics and moulded the seat pan over. I think I have found a solutionto my build. How is the seat attached?

On your first bike what seat is that? Custom made or off the shelf? Bike looks great, looking forward to see how the new one progresses.

R6 Fork Swap + single rotor SM wheel, please advise

Earlier R6 front ends (right way up) are more or less a direct swap using the R6 stem and new headstock bearings, so I would think that the newer R6 front end will not be far off. As has already been said, you will likely need spacers to move the discs out from the hub to match the caliper...

    Gasket sealing surface

How about glassing it in? Some valve lapping paste on a sheet of glass rub cover gasket surface in paste to get a level and smooth finish?

    Leslie's Tracker Build

They look good. I think the just of it is standard length bare metal or chrome. Then 60mm longer and some 10mm wider to accept 160 tyre. I think they are all box section steel, bare or chromed. Has anyone ever ordered from that site?

    Leslie's Tracker Build

I just contacted Abbey Engineering to see if they are producing JMC swingarms. The are no longer producing them as they are not cost effective. So JMC swingarms are no longer available. That leaves Metmachex in the UK, or your current solution Les.

    Leslie's Tracker Build

I think JMC have been bought out by Abbey Engineering in Liverpool. Some internet trawling has shown that people have had swingarms made. I would love and aluminium swingarm like the JMCs. I may drop Abbey a line in the future to see what is happening. Nothing on their website though...

Anyone who's swapped to Sportbike front end please chime in

I'm about to start with an 01 R6 front end. I wanted to keep the "right way up" forks. From what I have read, the yokes of the r6 should fit into the XS with different bearings, keeping the R6 stem. Blue spot calipers should fit with the stock XS hub, but you will need some spacers to move the...

    engine upgrade

I think the advantages of the 700cc big bore is that you can do it on stock liners. The high compression (10.5:1) is where the main performance benefit comes from. This compares to Mikes big fin 750 kit with a 9.5 compression ratio. If you get a weisco/JE 750 kit, then you resleve. These...

    Leslie's Tracker Build

Hey Leslie I just want to clarify an earlier post. Are your custom yokes the same dimesions as standard R6 yokes in terms of fork width? I only ask as I have an R6 front end (forks and yokes) and I'm concerned with clearance of the calipers and the spokes. Not yet got to the build up stage...
