    Monstercraftsman Mids

I used the mid mounts and some cheap anderson style pegs, the stock brake pedal and a hughs brake pivot. I posted some pics in another thread someone had asking about the mids http://www.xs650.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29503

    Why Install a Hardtail? O.o?

All these guys saying they're all about function are a bit silly. no matter what you do to it, a 30 year old parallel twin 650 is not all about function. it will not go, stop, or be as comfortable or safe as many many many modern bikes that can be readily purchased for less than cost of buying...

Mids and rear brake pivot on an Ardcore frame

running a drum in the rear it shouldn't be too tough. I used monstercraftsman mid peg mounts, they bolt on to stock exhaust mounts. then I used a Hughs handbuilt brake pivot and the stock brake pedal/linkage/acuator rod. I'll track down some pics

Pod Filters with stock exhaust pipes cut off muffler. Will I need to rejet?

longer open pipes or pipes with extra bends will have more back pressure that just cutting stock pipes. there are plenty of things you can do on the cheap to add a little backpressure if you want but it still may not be the best option. the easiest way would be to weld a flat washer to the end...

What do I coat my pipes with before I wrap?

most I've seen corrode at the initial bend after the flange, you can get the inside coated pretty well with a rattle can of vht header paint and it buys you more time. not that they wont corrode, but I think it helps them last longer.

    Hardtail welding

I had someone else weld mine as my welding skills aren't great. they welded it in a frame jig, but without the motor installed. it built back up nice and straight and I had no problems at all getting engine mounted after. I would say its best to leave it in, but not mandatory

does anyone know waht kind of frame this is?

I think they also made the denvers frame for cb750s but it should be real easy to tell its not one of those. most guys who still run plunger frames run a solid steel rod inside the spring to lock it out, leaving the springs just for cosmetics.
