Can't figure out the OEM rats nest wiring! '78

No, nothing's been cut. All the female-male connectors are still there..so it's just a matter of trying every possible connection. Haha Didn't know that about the blue wires, though. Thanks! Would you happen to know if both of the blue male wires go to the same connector?

Can't figure out the OEM rats nest wiring! '78

I had no problems with the main connectors, but the turns are the ones that I'm having a hard time with. There were also some blue wires in there, too..Not sure where those go. hah But, those diagrams...I don't quite understand them, but I'll keep studying them. Thanks!

Can't figure out the OEM rats nest wiring! '78

Hey guys, I made the mistake of not labeling my wires before jumping into it. -sigh- :banghead: Unfortunately, I'm unable to figure out what wires go where in the headlight bucket. Would anyone happen to have a diagram for this? Or maybe even pictures? And actually, what ARE all the wires...

How to: Brat style flat seat on the cheap!

Finally had some time today to make a cardboard template! Looks like I may have to invest in a new dremel because I've got some cutting I need to do.. How's the underside of your seat looking EWAN and Tron? I'm assuming I'll be all right once I remove that little tab that holds the seat up...

I absolutely love that seat! I'm going to have to go through this thread later and see if you put up any info on how you made it.

How to: Brat style flat seat on the cheap!

The change looks great, Tron! Still waiting for those mounting pics, sir. ;) I'm actually about to head on out to do experiment with a friends skateboard deck. Will let you guys know how that goes! Update: so the skateboard deck that I borrowed wouldn't have worked. The concave of the tail...

The clutch cable has actually been pretty darn good to me lately. Same as the throttle! Not sticking as much, and I haven't even lubed it yet..I'll do it soon. hah I need to address my front brake lever, though. It's a bit stiffer than I'd like. BUT, I managed to find a used rotor at a local...

So my clubmans came in today! Despite having some issues with rerouting the extra long clutch cable, I managed to get them on. I still have to mess with the throttle cable a bit, as it sticks every so often. I'll be buying a rotor from Gary soon, as I'm basically 85% sure that my issue is...

Trust me, I reallyy want to do that eventually. But I'd rather spend the $300 to get it running in tip top shape and getting it to look a bit more how I'd like it to first. Bill, what kind of work do you do online? I've had absolutely no luck with finding any carbon brushes locally...

That's pretty awesome! I totally forgot that I actually have like $20 in Amazon gift cards..Haha Ah okay. I thought that the paint might cause issues, but I figured that I might be able to sand a few spots, but I'm totally cool with chrome bars. :D But alrightey, today is round 2 with the...

Awesome. Tomorrow should be a productive day! So on a side note, I think I may be trying these clubmans out: http://www.amazon.com/Black-Cafe-Racer-Ace-Clubman/dp/B004PQOT8Y/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top These are the same ones sold on eBay, but it seems most of the people who buy them like them...

Ah okay. I'll give it another go later, then! I think I'm jumping the positive brush incorrectly. The positive brush IS the farthest left that has like black insulation (iirc), right? I'm getting sparks pretty much everywhere I touch with the jumper cable. So the battery was at 12.8vdc when I...

Well, I tried Sears, ace hardware, harbor freight, And like 3 other local hardware stores and none of them carried any alternator brushes. What?? Sucks!

Cool beans. That's really great info. Thanks so much! I'll be going to Sears tonight to try and find some. I would never have thought about trying Sears. Hah If I can find them tonight, I'll solder the new ones onto the old ones and I'll be able to test everything tomorrow. Hopefully I won't...

 So the brushes aren't absolutely terrible, but I'll probably be replacing them soon. I've actually yet to measure them..Lost my tape measure..hah But I'm assuming they should be replaced once they reach the indention mark? The left brush has a corroded spring, so I'll be replacing...

My bike's been sitting at the police department a few miles from my job, but a friend will be helping me tow it home tomorrow. Then I'll be able to crack down on the charging system. I'm really hoping it's just the brushes. hah Thanks for the tip, Leo!
