    How to Remove Crankcase/Engine Studs?

Never did have any luck getting a replacement set made, but since only the three long ones got buggered during removal, I found some on eBay for ridiculous price and snagged them. Reassembly can begin in a couple weeks when they arrive.

    How to Remove Crankcase/Engine Studs?

Just finished removing my studs with minimal damage. I did buy the cam-type stud remover and it worked fine for the head studs. It wasn't quite small enough to handle the case studs though and even though mine grips top, middle & bottom it still bent a couple of studs. Switched to a big ol'...

    regulator rectifier

Thank you again. So it seems the PMA setup strictly regulates/modifies the rough, uncontrolled output that magnets and a coil generate (output filter). In comparison, the XS setup first needs power to charge the coil, so it generates it from the brushes and gets regulated on the way in (input...

    regulator rectifier

Thanks. What is the difference between PMA and ours? I.e. Why won't it work?

    regulator rectifier

I would like to upgrade the reg/rec on my 77 with a new solid state device and happen to have an extra for a Ducati 996. I "think" it is simply a matter of changing the brush as shown at the beginning of this thread, but the Duc wiring diagram is slightly different. Any advice?

Wanted - Gordon Scott High Pipes & Sidecar Subframe

Good news, Wes has agreed to handle the exhaust and subframe with the added bonus of recovering my seat. RFLIVES offer is awesome and someone should definitely take him up on it, but it just out of my budgetary reach at the moment. Now I just need to find a source for decent frame u-mounts...

Wanted - Gordon Scott High Pipes & Sidecar Subframe

Thanks, that is another variation I like. I have fab skills but was hoping to buy the subframe and exhaust to get the project moving. The tub is the original eagle, very light, but crappy mounts.

Wanted - Gordon Scott High Pipes & Sidecar Subframe

Thank you both. I will shoot Wes an email shortly. I had seen the Omar's pipes and they are nice, but out of stock at the moment. Any ideas on the sidecar subframe? I am actually mounting a Spirit of America, but the setup will be nearly identical to a Volerex.

Wanted - Gordon Scott High Pipes & Sidecar Subframe

I finally have the funding to finish my XS650 sidecar rig and the go-to fab guy is MIA (hope all is well Mr. Scott). Anyone have his handywork and is willing to part with it? The high pipes I am interested in look like this: http://thebikeshed.cc/2013/10/23/baugrud-xs650/ The sidecar...

    Sidecar 101

Thank you both 650Skull and fredintoon for the helpful replies. I have started an ADV thread (Link) with the build details and the initial recommendation is to make a subframe. Any pics or details I can find on how others have conquered the XS650 frame mounts is welcome. I do have plenty of...

    Sidecar 101

Yeah, it's a real shame all the pics are gone. When I was first researching my XS / Spirit of America rig, they were really helpful. Sadly, I never took copies of them. I got sidetracked by a two year stint in England, but the build is finally underway. We'll see if this just ends up as...

    Sidecar 101

This thread is great! I have a 78 Street Tracker and the Spirit of America sidecar will be arriving in a couple weeks. I have started researching the mounts and this thread is giving me some good ideas. My biggest concern is the lower rear mount, as the center stand points were cut off during...
