For Sale - Mr Riggs stator holder

I abandoned an XS650 project a few years back and have this new in the box Mr Riggs stator adapter sitting here doing nothing. Are these even relevant today? I haven't been keeping up with what all you cool kids are up to. It's whatever he sent me.. Loose parts, the machined aluminum...

    girl with dragon tattoo XS

When I saw the previews for the movie I thought they had copied my CL350 cafe bike. Mostly since I am using the same muffler solution.. I built my own seat and am using a Benelli 650 Tornado fuel tank so obviously it's not identical. Just a weird coincidence.

MikesXS Camshaft - Anyone running it?

The carbs could be a culprit if it happens at a specific RPM as well.. Dealing with the crap on my Honda CB350s with the stock carbs at 4500rpm. I'm pretty sure it's the jetting in the carbs. In my case, it is getting too fat and choking the engine with gas.

    Rephased Chopper - Video

The problem with mine is that they are 6 volt from the 1950s and obviously only one filament in the bulb, ie: flood light. That microphone tail lamp is the cat's pajamas.

    Headlight Wiring

Find 12v (like the battery) and just start holding wires to the + and - side. You'll figure out which wire is the low and high beam. I presume the 4th wire separately powers a high beam indicator on top of the headlight? The factory stuff usually runs it in series with the high beam...

Do u think people would b offended?

My issue with expressing yourself is that other humans should have the common decency to not mess with other peoples' vehicles. It's funny how guys on here would kick over a 'hipster's' bike, but I doubt they'd touch a Sons of Silence or Hells Angel bike covered in racist shock propaganda...

Do u think people would b offended?

You're in Iowa.. Most people don't care what they see here or are at least conscientious enough to not kick over your bike or give you a hard time. The last time I visited my hometown in March, this flag was in someone's window: I'm laughing right now because I just realized it's...

    Rephased Chopper - Video

Is that a unity cop search light for a headlight? I have a few of those laying around and thought about it for my bike. I wanted to leave the whole handle on there that makes it aim around in different directions.

best way to install cam chain and masterlink

It seems like since everything is hardened steel that the end retains its slight mushrooming. Or at least it's so tight it'll never shake out because you have to use the tool just to push it back in. Also, the other half of that link is staked together by a link that has never been disturbed...

best way to install cam chain and masterlink

Ok, so on bicycles, I have always used a pin pusher tool to push the pin of one link out of the chain. Then I used the same tool to push the pin back into place and you wiggle the chain to loosen that link back up so it is flexible. Last night I did the same thing to my Tsubaki chain I am...

best way to install cam chain and masterlink

Holy cow. I haven't had my XS650 opened up yet. I've never seen anything like that on my Honda bikes. OK, I'm not so worried then. It looks like there are 100 ways to tackle the project. When I originally thought of the concept of riveting a chain, I was thinking the link had to be as...

best way to install cam chain and masterlink

I'm about to do this on a Honda CB350 engine I'm building up. I bought a Tsubaki chain, but at the moment I really don't want to split the cases to install it. So I bought a master link with the chain. My main question is how in the heck is this a stronger solution to the clip style master...

Deus Ex Machina XS ride vid on Hellforleather

I'm all in favor of changing public perception about these bikes. I already own enough of them that I'm ready to cash in when they go up 10x in value. I'm jealous that they seem to have access to more W650 engines over there than in the USA.

I'm going to squirt a shot of marvel mystery oil into the jugs while it's sitting there waiting for me to fix that sump filter screen. I'm working on building a Honda CB350 engine at the moment, so it'll probably be a bit before I get around to tearing into the XS650. I swore a year ago...

Well, the prognosis is not good. Oil level doesn't seem to be an issue. I drained only about 1.8 quarts out after a ride around the block resulted in this Compression, as noted is not ideal in the right cylinder. The photo is wrong. Swap "Left Cylinder and Right Cylinder" The oil...

Compression readings are crappy.. 123psi in the left cylinder and 92psi in the right one. I'm not liking the inevitable so far.

5twins, I will measure my dipstick. I think you might be onto something though. My oil level is about 1/8" over max on the dipstick that's in there. If it's the old version, it'd mean I'm over full for certain. EDIT:// Yeah, I have the old dipstick, so my oil level was about 1/2" too high...

Yeah according to the serial number, my engine is a 1975 model. It appears that of the two outlets on the breather, the left one doesn't leak oil, so it may be internally blocked off. I actually have a spare breather box (with the baffle and both outlets open to the air) that was sent to me in...

Will do. I'm going to drain the oil tonight to check the big sump underneath for goodies. I'm going to probably pull the clutch side engine cover to look in there too.. at what, I don't know yet, but it'll be an adventure.

I rode it for the first time tonight.

Yeah, i changed the oil out for 15w30 diesel oil. I pulled both side covers at one point. The left side cover is sealed with permatex gray gasket goop because I didn't want to spend money on a gasket kit. I'll check the oil level though. I put a new oil filter in it as well, and I don't...
