Has anyone used this tank bag?

The Walmart bag took about 2 weeks to show up at the local FedEx store. It's great for the price, very well built and 6 magnets to hold the thing on. It's probably just as well built as the $80 bags. There's nothing questionable about it. It comes with a rain fly, map pocket and is expandable...

Really cheap and easy fix for fluttering vacuum gages

So you can't get a steady reading on your carb balancing vacuum gages and you don't want to buy needle valves... Head to the medicine cabinet and grab a couple q-tips. Just unravel a little bit of the tip until it fits in the vac. lines.

Bike sputters and dies after riding for 5-10 minutes

I finally got the right cylinder to fire on my bike today. The pilot screw on that carb had to be backed out until the point that you could barely feel the spring's resistance. I didn't count the turns, but it was probably in the neighborhood of 5 turns out vs the 2 it took to get the left carb...

    Leaking Carb After Rebuild

Thanks for the input. It turns out that it was just a stuck float. I finally got to spend some time out in the garage today, and there was no leaking fuel. I don't remember what the float levels were at, but they are what the manual calls for.

    Leaking Carb After Rebuild

It's late and as my luck always goes, things never go smoothly. I just got done putting on my oil filter kit, replacing the sump screen and the carb rebuild kits. Started up fine with a little starting fluid and some fiddling with the carbs. It was 50F according to the dipstick. I was...

Has anyone used this tank bag?

Good to know. I really like the simple look. It's nice to hear from others that know how to save a buck... not everyone craps hundred dollar bills.

Just ordered the Classic Accessories tank bag from Walmart. I'll post up some pics and my two cents once it shows up.

Has anyone used this tank bag?

I've decided to get a magnetic tank bag for my bikes and decided that it's not worth more than $40 to $50 to me. It's really just for convenience because a backpack does get the job done, so I won't be spending $70 or more for one. Here's the one I'm favoring so far...

    new one piece hardtail

Wow! That tail has a great oem look to it. It really compliments the pipe curves and the shape of the stock frame. Is that a tractor seat? Kudos for the cantelever.

Mine showed up today. Great piece, fit's just like the original. If you care about keeping your oil temps in check, be sure to get one.

    left exhaust running hot

Doesn't a leaky plug overfuel the main circuit? When looking in the hole the rubber plug goes in (bottom of the pilot jet), you can see a drilling between top of the main jet and the bottom of the pilot jet. This would be the metered side of the main jet but the basically unmetered side of the...

    first ride... ever!

Nice bike! Almost identical to mine that I just bought a few weeks ago. I'm waiting on my dipstick thermometer to show up too. Where 'bout are you in Michigan?

    battery size

Might want to check out Antigravity Batteries too. http://antigravitybatteries.com/?page_id=994 Saw an 8 Cell used in a snowmobile (think it was a 800cc) a few weeks ago, so it should handle a bike no prob.

    left exhaust running hot

Same exact thing happened on my bike. The right pipe is bright chrome but the left is straw colored. I started by spraying all around the carb mounts with ether to see if it had a vacuum leak on the left side (it didn't rev when sprayed so it didn't have a vac leak). But while I was messing with...

    XS650 Thermometer-Dipsticks

Just ordered one. Proud to say it's the first mod to my new (and my 1st) XS. Looks like a really nice piece, and made in America from American parts too!
