    pamco and e-advance

Figure8 yes I timed it. Retiredgentleman, I cleaned the carbs while I was waiting for the pamco. I also added fuel system cleaner which may have been part of the problem because after I rode it a while it went away. Now that I've put some miles on the new ignition the old lady is running better...

    pamco and e-advance

I got it running with half choke. Then i adjusted the idle and it seems to be running great. Is this normal after installing a pamco? Just wondering. Probably something else I have to fix.

    pamco and e-advance

Something is definitely not right. I got everything in and temporarily wired up so I could start it. It acts like it wants to start every kick but won't. Then after about ten kicks I can get it started but not for long, dies after about 10-15 seconds. Any ideas?

    pamco and e-advance

Thanks Pete, I figured as much there were a few extras on the rod. Just making sure I did everything right before I started her up, and having extra parts made me a little worried.

Pete, how many advanced locating pins are used in this process? I got three in the kit.

    pamco and e-advance

My stock 1980 tci coil and ignition box finally gave out so it's time for a pamco. I'm currently installing the Ultimate Pamco electronic ignition kit with e-advancer/ignition coil kit Part # 14-0907 from Mikes. I know this has been covered 100 times before but I'm having trouble finding a place...

    Running rough off the line

Petcock is working properly. 5twins you may be on to something. It runs better at higher speeds when the engine is getting some air, and it runs like shit sitting in traffic while the engine gets hot.

    Running rough off the line

The petcock did cross my mind. Should it be removed and cleaned? I ran a can of b-12 fuel system cleaner through it to try and deal with any issues like that but that never seems to do anything for me.

    Running rough off the line

Ok friends. My stock 1980 has been running rough, and it has been progressively getting worse. I've cleaned the carbs good and changed the spark plugs and it's still doing the same thing. Most of the time it will run pretty good and then after 20 minutes it starts sputtering real bad in first...

    Racetech Electric Rotor

There is a one year warranty. I was hoping to avoid the inconvenience of sending it back to California and waiting for them to ship me a new one to Pa. But after looking at it for about 15 minutes I decided I would feel better with a replacement. Just letting you guys know my experience with it...

    Racetech Electric Rotor

After I got my charging system working right I rode 350 miles and found that my battery was not charging yet again. I quickly found out it was my brand new rotor from racetech electric. This is the only time I've heard of something going wrong with these rotors. (just my luck I guess) thanks to...

New Rotor, No magnetism, No charge.

Retired gentleman. Just did your test and got a slap and did not blow a fuse.

New Rotor, No magnetism, No charge.

Any ideas why I would be blowing my main fuse jumping the green wire at the regulator connector to ground? It blows the fuse instantly when I touch the jumper to ground. I did it once and got a charge on my battery did it again without changing anything and started blowing the main fuse.

New Rotor, No magnetism, No charge.

Everything to the regulator was hooked up good so I ordered a new one. I'm just wondering if I screwed something up while I was testing the regulator which is causing the main fuse to blow. It only blows when I ground the regulator, not when everything is hooked up normally.

New Rotor, No magnetism, No charge.

The main fuse would blow when I jumped the green wire at the regulator connector to ground. The first time I did it I got a charge on my battery. So I knew it was my regulator or the ground, I made sure all of the connections going to the regulator were good and still didn't get a charge. So I...
