I know how this happened! So the question is why is it running like crap after putting my stock mechanism on!? 1974 xs650

So I had my stock one laying around! Put it on with the weights from my pamco setup and it ride fine just cruising! When I hit top gear and highway speed it sputters and runs super choppy until I get down to low RPM's! What could be causing it to do that! I'm almost positive the locking nut...

So I had the bike running and everything was perfect! Timing was spot on with TDC! Then I revved it up and it sputtered and died! Looked at plugs, gas, carbs ok! Took off points cover and found this :doh::yikes:

I love my Xs but have rebuilt it more times than I can count! Just looking to dabble into some unknown project thst might be preaty fun. I had an 03 crf 450r and it was rediculous fast! I think it would take allot if fab work bit thsts the fun part, to step out of the norm and discover new...

Preaty much want to know if u can put a crf450 engine in my Xs. Will it fit with some mounting fab obviously but how can I transfer a fuel injection system into it? Anyone done it?

As soon as I save up the funds that's the plan! Do most people send there's to Hugh?? And what am I looking at for the cost of a rephase and 5th gear overdrive!??

It's repairable but with the labor and parts I'm better off just finding a new engine!!

Oh, into the end of the spark plug was completely snapped off LOL

Honestly the head wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! Obviously the other valve is chewed up! The cylinders are still good unbelievably. Pretty much the only things that got destroyed were the piston, and the pushrod!

So I was out for a nice afternoon ride when the bike started blowing smoke and chattering like crazy. Oil was coming out of the left exhaust so I brought it home told the top end off and this is what I discovered!!!!!! I guess the valve snapped in half and had a hay day with my piston!!!!

Ok so if the bikes at idle the left side runs super choppy, pops and backfires like crazy. Right side runs perfect!! It runs fine once I get into the higher rpm's but decelerating it backfires on left side?? Carbs cleaned timing good, good spark???????

How much????

Also if I leave the choke on ( which I don't) it will run fine!!
