Hello i am new here, currently building a 81 xs650 into a street tracker. I race flat track sometimes in Miami and i got this bike a while ago. I’m trying to build a racer mainly but still have it street legal. The old owner had started the process of rear disk conversion with the 19 front mag...
1975 stock XS650B.
Had the bike in storage a number of months. Came back to it today and found brake fluid pooled along the wheel rim and some had dripped down onto the tire. I wiped it up, and noticed a trail coming down the rotor and from where the metal brake pipe meets the caliper. that...
Hello,
I am talking with a guy in virginia about a set of forks he's got for (we think) an XS650. I'm interested in using just the forks, triple tree, bar clamps, and axle. I won't be using the fender, wheel, bars, or headlight brackets. I might use the hand controls but I haven't decided yet...
Hello folks,
I've got me heart set on a nice set of TCBros front springer forks. the construction looks super solid from their video, and they come with lots of support in terms of calipers, bar mounts, and all that rigamarole. the trouble is, with all this corona quarantine happening i am...
Does anyone have a rear disc brake caliper they aren't using?
Also looking for the mount for it that goes to the axle as well as the rear master cylinder
Thanks!
I have a copy of a list of axle sizes used on bikes. I think I've seen one for front forks sizes.
Has any one ever compiled a list like that for other things?
Such as bore diameters of front brake master cylinders?
I was wondering because I need a new mater cylinder for the 81. I will use a...
Hey guys,
I am adding the final touches to my chopper build of a 1979 xs650SG and I have added a springer front end and ended up getting the 21" mini brake drum chopper wheel from lowbrow. I have it set up and trust me I know that this brake doesn't have great or little stopping power. however...
Question,
For for my build, my frame (78' XS650) started off with disk rear for brakes. I now have a switched to drum (I have a drum swing arm.) I am now left with the ugly rear master cylinder mounts (see picture.)
So my question to the guru's is;
Are the Rear Brake Master Cylinder mounts...
Hey Everyone. Pretty new to the site and really new to these bikes. Picked up a 1979 basket case from a guy and went with a TC Bros hard tail. Picked up some wire wheels from a guy who said he had them on a 79 project as well. Had them shipped to me and went to put them on to start my build...
Hey guys hope all is well! I have spent most of the day trying multiple things on my rear brake system on my 1980 XS650SG and have had no luck. I have recently purchased a new rear master cylinder from mikesxs and I am still having the same issue. There are no brake oil leaks and I can't get it...
We recently bought a new master cylinder for the front brake. We have cleaned both lines, rebuilt the caliper, and I have verified fluid will flow from master cylinder thru to the caliper and will run out the bleeder.
With the new master cylinder however, I get ZERO feeling of "grip" or...
I have made a 2D template for cutting your own adapters to fit Yamaha gold and blue spot break calipers to 35mm forks.
Feel free to edit them to remove a bit of weight, or change the shape a little, it's easy!
The main thing is that the 10mm holes are in the correct place to seat the caliper...
TLDR edit: I have purchased and fitted one and this disc fits perfectly with the original caliper, it weighs 4.5 lbs (2.04KG).

Hello,
First of all, I am new so this is my introduction. I'm in the UK and have imported a 1980 special...
next will be my forks, then my exhaust..I'm not anywhere close to being done with this ( hopefully done in a couple weeks) I used to carve wood, so I gave metal a try. I can definitely get better at it quickly. I won't charge much at all, I could even draw up some badass designs for future...
Hi All,
I decided to replace the two line system with one single braided line. I have ordered a new brake line from Goodrige but the fitting they supplied doesn't fit.
Firstly the adapter is convex on both ends and it needs to be concave to fit the ridged front line or the caliper.
Also the...
Hi there
I have a 1975 xs650B with a Nissin 13/16" bore front master cylinder. There's a previous thread from about two years ago discussing this. Seems like the 13/16" rebuild kits aren't available.
So I've found a source for complete new master cylinders and I'm happy with this. I plan to...
Sorry everyone it' s been a while since I've posted, pretty busy haha. Can I flush the lines and rebuild the mister cylinder and save it? I really don't want to have to buy a new one. Also, this is a quick pic inside the combustion chamber I think? I just feel like all that gunk isn't really...
little bit of background. Just rebuild the bike, new lines, no fluid in anything.
This is the master cylinder I have:

I have been trying to bleed these brakes for 2 days now, today I spent 2 hours trying to get them to bleed. (first using the...
So I bought a new front brake, brake light pressure switch from mikes and it's been on the bike for about 3 days and maybe 25 miles and it's already leaking brake fluid from where the Wires come out of the end of the threaded part. It forms a drop really fast when I squeeze the brake lever. Has...
