Tail light/dash light questions -blue wire. 1975 xs650 stock

I'm having trouble getting my tail light/dash light to work properly on my 75 xs650. The po messed with the wiring but it all looks correct compared with the diagram. In the third ignition switch (park) position the blue wire gets power, tail light and dash lights come on. In the second position...

    brake won't pump up

I have flushed out the MC and got the fluid to finally flow down to the bleeder nicely but can not seem to build up any pressure. I have probably run a whole can of fluid thru it without bubbles. Any ideas welcome.

    another brembo question

I have got access to a complete front and rear brembo brake set that will suit a 748 916 996 and 998. I have read in a few other posts that these are the set to get? Is that right?? Will the rear master cylinder bolt straight onto existing frame mount? I know I would have to make or get some...

To whomever posted about back-bleeding brakes

Many, MANY thanks. I can't find the post now, but a couple of years ago I read about using a hand oiler hooked to the bleed screw on the caliper to force fluid UP the system to the master cylinder. Just did that on my Zook project. 5 minutes from newly rebuilt caliper and master...

Making a spacer for FZR rotor

Hi all, I'm in the middle of putting an FZR 600 (3HE) front end on my bike. I've already made spacers to mount the XS front wheel in the FZR forks and now need to make a spacer to offset the Ducati rotor that I'll be using. I need to make a spacer that's around 17mm thick to allow enough...

    noob questions!

I have a few noobie questions so instead of creating a thread for each I'll just lump them together since (I know) they're easy questions for you pro's to answer or point me to a thread that I've missed which would have answered my question. 1- Front MC: I read in the MC DIY thread in tech...

    Front brake M/C question

Do you need the inline brake manifold for the front brake on a single piston, single disc brake? Or, can a just put the master cylinder on and run a line directly to the caliper?

'72 XS2 rear brake cam lever

    One master cylinder for both?

I'm doing my best to keep the handlebars clean on my X and also I'm cheap. But I want to be safe and have functional brakes. So I was thinking, why not put in a double banjo on my foot master cylinder and run both front and rear brake off of it? I would probably put a proportioning valve on...

Best calipers and rotors for FZR600 fork swap

Hi all, new guy here but not to bikes. Got myself a '75 XS650 I am in the process of restoring, and have replaced the extra long chopper forks it came with with a set of FZR600 forks. I have been trying the search function to find threads about this, but no definite answers yet. The question is...

    twin disk model

hey all, Newbie here. I recently bought an 80 model with twin disk front end (Australian model) and was wondering was the twin disk a factory option? or did all the Australian delivered 80 models come with twin disks?? I need to completely rebuild both front and rear disk brakes, master...

    Whats rotors work?

This may seem ridiculous, but I can't seem to find a straight answer. I want to use stock calipers front and back. Single front. All I want is a straight answer on what rotors and pads i can use that would be considered an upgrade from stock. Even EBC themselves can't seem to find what I need...

    Disc Brake Shims

My bike has come down with a bad case of brake squeal which I am trying to eliminate. I tried that red spray on Disc Brake Quiet stuff, which worked for about two days. Now the squeal is back worse than ever. I do know that I am running without the shims that I hear mention of every once in a...

Pandemonium 35mm Brembo: what brake line did you use?

I'm doing the Pandemonium Brembo kit on my 79 Standard and was wondering what length and fittings everyone else has used for the brake line. Current bars are eurobars or something similar. I've been able to track down everything else and would like to get the brake line ordered too while I'm...

Brake dragging - how much is too much

I just installed the floating disc upgrade from MikesXS. There's a note from the manufacturer saying that there should be no dragging at all or it could damage the rotor. I've done disc brake installations and repairs on dozens of different vehicles and disc brakes always rub a bit. Is the '81...
