Another contraption I've been wanting for a long time, a gas cap gauge.
It's peanut's fault. He posted this awhile back, and it's been bugging me since.

Then, there's this old classified that has a vintage Asahi gauge...
Ok. Just bought my '83 XS in-a-basket and am getting ready to start my street tracker project. I figure seat and tank are the right place to start. I keep hearing these horror stories about ethanol eating fiberglass resin.
Is there an alternative to fiberglass out there?
Are there glass tanks...
I have various parts off of my 79 xs650 special for sale. The tank is in pretty good condition. Surface rust only, no pitting. It has been lined recently. Also, not pictured, I have the air box covers, chain guard, foot pegs.
I'm getting close to getting my rebuild running. I bring my fuel tank down from the top shelf where it's been forever. It full of rust. Spotless when I put it there 1( years ago. Victim of forget and neglect. How do I clean it? Or do I replace the tank?:wtf:
Hey everyone,
I have a 75 650B, had it for many years, bought it in 1987, mostly stock except for bars and exhaust. Always been garaged even though I have not ridden her in many years. Came as a surprise when she fell off her kickstand. Don't know how this happened, I came home and found it...
G'Day Fellas, Can any of you help me to identify who made the fuel tank on this bike? I am looking for one that is as low as I can get for my standard 650-B frame.
Hi,
I am using the tank from a mid 70's XS650 on my raodster project.
Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the collar that carries the fuel tank cap.
I have removed the filler cap itself and the collar looks to be pressed onto the neck of the fuel tank.
I want to paint the tank and...
Hi all.....what do you guys normally do with a new tank? With the new ethanol fuels and crap gas you get does it make sense to caot the tank before using it?
I've used Kreem before with mised results on used tanks, but have used Caswell sealer with pretty good results...
I only question...
Hey guys. I have a peanut tank knock-off with some haggard petcocks. The only problem is, the threading is 7/16, and I can only find petcocks in 1/2, 3/8, and 3/4. I'm hoping that somebody has had this problem and could point me in the right direction to find some petcocks that will fit. Also, I...
Hello all
I'm wondering if anyone can help me? I'm trying to find the smallest fuel pipe filter that will fit on my stock petcock. Or is there a way that I can some how reduce the stock filter? I'm trying to put on a small tank and I'd like to use the stock petcock so I don't have to mess too...
Okay, I haven't spent more than a minute on this, but why does the stock tank have two petcocks? It appears to feed into a T-connector for both carbs.
I'm considering welding the stock petcock holes over and welding in 1/4" pipe thread bungs for two brass valves (one with an internal 2"...
Hello Forum,
Can someone offer some insight about putting a custom tank on a 650?
I would imagine that I have to use a 650 petcock. Or do I?
Do I need to run two petcocks, or is one with a T in the fuel line sufficient?
And then what's the most efficient way to do it? Close up the...
