Any one ever had this stuff build up on their gas cap? It wasn't there a month ago. Should I be worried about anything other than the cap it self rusting? Is it something to do with the fuel?
I'm running a 5/16 ID fuel line from the tank through a brass T fitting into two Mikuni Vm34's. I've double checked everything, the petcock flows freely, the gas line is free of debris but when its all on the bike together the fuel doesn't flow freely. there is a tiny bit of flow and air all in...
From what I have gathered the older bikes had 2 petcocks with a fuel line going to each carb, whereas the newer bikes have only one, and the line T's off(like mine).
Are there advantages to either set up?
I've been to a bunch of my local automotive shops and none of them have fittings / clamps small enough to hold on the fuel line. I tried to order some of the wire hose clamps but I'm not able to get a big enough size. What are you guys using?
The bike is an xs500 and ive bought an old fiberglass tank which had a 24mm petcock in it haha.
I removed it and did some glassing to make it fit the frame and i have to run a new petcock set up.
What is best, a 3/8 or 22mm petcock?
I will be running one and t-ing it off to each carb. I am...
Got a brand new tank and it's rusty in less than 2 weeks. No I didnt use any kind of coating but i figured that my bike is 30 years old and the original tank wasn't coated on the inside so I should have 30 years on my new tank. I dont expect it to not rust but What happened? Is that normal...
Im pretty new to this forum and motorcycling in general. Got my first bike this year, an 83 XS650 Heritage Special. When I got the bike everything was stock and I havent done much to it.
The bike wouldnt run when I bought it, then I had the carbs cleaned and rebuilt it ran wonderfully. At...
Long time lurker finally joining. I have two XS650's.
A 1977 Standard Restored Rider and a 1980 Special chopper project. I have two motors for it. The original from the bike I rebuilt and the extra one I rebuilt and rephased to a 277. I'm planning on fuel injecting it with either a...
Ok, I am new to this bike/engine and really don't have much knowledge about engines in general. I've been doing some reading and trying to figure out some issues I've been having, but so far, no luck. Here is the big one right now:
After running the bike tonight, it still gave me some issues...
Hello Everyone, Im new here. Im trying to build me a bike. It seems to run really well and it starts on the first kick without the Mikes xs air filters. Put the filters on and it floods bad in just a few kicks. The man that rebuit the carbs said he set the clips down one on the needle for use...
i'm fitting in line fuel filters to the bike and would like to know must i fit them vertically or can they be fitted horizontally. only there isnt much room to fit them them between the fuel tap and the carb if i do them vertically, the pipes seem a bit kinked. any suggestions ?
thanks
- MPG and modifications?
- been thinking about mileage, and the corresponding affect of modifications to the stock setup...inlet, outlet, head, cylinder, gearing, frame, riding style, etc
- any thoughts? or personal experience-records?
Aside from using KREM, what other methods will get rid of rust in a tank, short of buying another Tank. ?
Is there a cheaper, easier quick fix out there ?
Cowboy3669's turbo drag bike got me thinking about what would be involved with making an XS650 fuel injected. I know there's a couple of guys on the net with turbo projects in the works that are planning to run fuel injection but they aren't done with their projects yet. Does anyone know of...
we have a xs650 with a fiberglass or maybe plastic tank on it ,the problem we are having is if the bike sets more than acoulpe of weeks the gas seems to gel somewhat in the tank and gums the carbs up ,is this a reation with the gas and the stuff the tank is made of, if we start it up once a day...
Does anyone know how to get the rust out of the inside of a gas tank? It's not too rusty but there is some loose stuff. Has anyone tried Kreem or POR15?
