What Bike is this Fairing off

Does anyone have any clue as to what the fairing on this XS 850 is from. http://www.markmeisner.com/motoren/yamaha-xs850/ It might be the Airtech F1FU with a headlight fitted but I am not convinced. The obvious thing would be to track down the man who built it and ask him but I suspect...

    Grey Blue side covers

A recent prize from a box of parts is this set of Special side covers. (The tank is another orphan that needs some bondo other side where a set of forks made room for themselves). Question is whether the side covers are a factory paint scheme or a later owner's efforts. If the former, was the...

After looking at a couple serial number lists, Still not sure what I have. The number starts with 2F0 which I have been told makes it 1979, but it has TCI ignition, BS34 carbs. Engine and frame have matching numbers as well as the sticker on the neck. Any ideas. Thanks

    Engine/Frame VINs Don't Match?

A few months ago I purchased one these beloved Yammies under the impression it was a '77 XS-D (U.S.). The title matched the VIN stamped on the neck tube, and using the attached .pdf (readily found in several threads), I confirmed this to be true. Although the bike was fairly stock, the previous...
