    Help identifying front fender

I got this front fender in a Suzuki GT550 parts lot. I'm pretty sure it's not not a Suzuki fender, and it's definitely not an XS650 fender. Can anyone help ID this? Any help is appreciated.

How much does your XS650 weigh? A how-to.

There's been some threads here about bike weights, thought I'd weigh my two XS1B's. There's about a 2" drop from my barn floor to the carport. A bathroom scale placed near that step, plus another 2x6 alongside that should make a nice roll-on weighing method. Not shown, a 4x8 piece of 1/8"...

No Barn, but a nice find

I've been looking for a good motor for a project that I have for quite awhile with no luck. Prices are getting a little crazy !! So I hit my local craigslist and a listing for old Yamaha for 275.00 that's only 30 miles away !!! Now I don't know if I should take the motor out or save the...

    need some help!

Ok is like to thank you for all the info here on how to I'd the bikes. I'm still having some trouble so I need to ask. The sn is 447-123147. By looking around it seems this would be a 74 model? Or could it be a 73 model? The reason I ask is that by looking at the frame there is no loop bracket...

    gold wheeled mystery

Frame and motor say 2FO 20.... Seems like it is 78/79 according to the info. However, it has grommet side panels! Gold 19/16 mags. I'm confused. Thanks in advance, Jon

    VIN Check?

Because I'm a nasty, suspicious old man, I'd really like to run a VIN check on my parts bike. Most of the VIN check sites want a modern 17 digit VIN. Does anyone know of a site or other source to check the old style VIN? I'll be perusing my state DMV site as well.

    Okay, now I'm REALLY curious.

Pulled the engine out of that parts bike. Engine number matches frame number, 2F0-20xxxx. All the references I can find makes it a '79. The engine has the TCI electronic ignition, no points or advance, both covers on top are empty. It also has BS-34 carbs with the side-pull choke knob. I...

    1971 xs 1b, xs1f

I have bought an abandoned project, frame only, no forks which has a hard tail tacked on. The serial number is S650-0135xx which makes it an XS 1F. I see lots of examples of the XS 1B, but none of the 1F. Why were there 2 model designations in one year? Did the later numbers in that year...

    Score, but...

Scored this parts bike, what you see is what you get, $100. Engine all there, turned over when I looked at it a year ago, stuck now, but I don't think it's bad. Lot of decent parts, lot of stuff missing, but I'm primarily interested in the engine anyway. Now to the question: The serial...

    Yamaha XJ550R

While out for a ride yesterday I spotted this in a Farmer's Junk Pile From a little googling I see that it's a Yamaha XJ550R. Anyone work on any of these? Are they worth restoring? From the looks of the place, I doubt there's a title or even a set of keys, but who knows. That...

    Help identify XS 650

Hey guys, I'm trying to understand what kind of a model am I exactly dealing with here. I believe it's a modified (by someone) 'Special' model, but I'm not sure. Can anybody confirm? Here's what it says on the tag: XS 650 SE 3L1-040350 79/6501 So as I understand, it's an 1979 model, but...

Thinking of buying this 1981...do you think it's a good deal?

Hi everyone, I've been on the forum for about 3 months and I'm very impressed with the collective knowledge of the members. I hope to tap into that knowledge and ask for your opinion on this 1981 xs 650 that I am considering to buy. It would be for a restoration, something to tinker with...
