Hello,
Since it’s raining buckets in the PNW these days, I figured I’d fix the leak coming from the starter motor. Engine is in frame. I have everything pulled off and access to both sides. The issue I’ve got is that sucker is really stuck on there - I have picked, scratched and scraped with...
Please let me know if you happen to have or know where I could source a starter for my 79 XS. Just finished the build and the starter failed... welcome to give me a call 972-670-7999 Thanks, Keith
So there's a short coming from somewhere that keeps blowing fuses every time you press the start button. I isolated the short down to the starter motor itself, but when I bought a used starter from eBay(tested and working) the same problem happens. Could there be a short beyond the starter in...
So I bought an xs2 that me and a friend are building into something new, no previous xs2 experience, just learning as i go. The bike was in pieces when i bought it and I am now wondering, as the bike has a starter motor, should there be a start button, or was it all part of the decompression...
I have restored a xs2 ' 72, but I have a problem: the starter motor runs fine, spins the wheel also indicated with the arrow in the picture attached, but do not turn the Pistons ...

After 2 hours of kicking and...
I am able to make a decent connection with what little thread I have left to work with using the 10mm nut to secure the starter motor cable, but its a tenuous situation.
Broke about 3/16" of threads off while tightening (perhaps overly so) the nut to make sure the cable was secured. Snap...
Has anyone had luck replacing starter to crankcase oil seal without having to remove left side gear train cover. Trying to make this fix as simple as possible, but want to make sure gears will all match up when installing starter after new seal.
Hi all,
Man, I've been trying to get my house together for sale, and the bike has been gone for painting...so I haven't been in the threads much....but I'm back!
So, I've went through all my steps to get the bike running and have been on a couple of long rides...I love this! My challenge...
Hey all
So today was a momentous day. I _finally_ got my xs running properly and rode it to work. Picking it up yesterday and this AM it started second kick. This is _amazing_ but I fear that there will be days when a mechanical leg is handy and my local garage have the chops to fit a starter...
