Can anyone steer me in the right direction for new rubber on my 1972 XS2. I am putting this rebuild on the road but the bike has the original Dunlop Gold Seals that came with the bike in 1972. Tires have side wall cracks but other than that look new. 4,000 miles on them. Of course I am going to...
Will the tire 150/80-16 fit this my stock 16" rear mag wheel? The marking I see on my wheel is 16 x 3.00. There is a good deal on a slightly used tire that I would like to get if anyone knows if it will fit my rim. I just don't know enough about tires to pull the trigger on it.
Thanks...
G'day All,
So this is yet another tyre (tire) thread. But to make things simple, I wanna know what tyres (tires) you guys are running on. I'm based in Australia (hence i say tyres) and so far the best options I can see are the Dunlop D404s or K591.
What say you?
PS. I'm new to this...
I'm looking to buy a new rear tire for my V-Star Silverado and I want to know which brands you guys are using. I have Cheng Shin on my XS650H and they have served me well, but I don't want to buy Cheng Shin again. I got 7,500 miles on the cruiser's Bridgestone.
Any suggestions ?
does anyone know what other size tires you can fit onto an 81 stock rear wheel? im lookin at 150/80-16. just checkin to see if they'll fit. with frame modification of course.
So i've owned a CB750 (mag wheels), V-Max, and a Road Star - all of which had pretty wide rear tires. I ordered a new rear tire for my 77 XS650D, which has the spoked 18 inch rim in the rear, the tire size is 4.00 - 18. I went on the cheap this season and just bought the vintage dunlop ($60 on...
Let's talk tires for a minute...
My '75 project still has what appears to be the original front tire. I'd like to restore the bike as close as possible to how it would've rolled out of the showroom in 1975.
I'm wondering if anyone makes a vintage style tire? I surfed around the Coker...
Hello everyone,
1979 special II...
I'm finally getting close calling this girl road worthy... But unfortunately she needs some new shoes. So.. got online, and ordered some new treads.. they came in just a couple days, good price, so that's nice.
Anyway, after wrestling the old tire off...
Some of you may have had difficulty trying to find suitable off pavement, ie gravel road-dirt-snow-trail tires to fit all stock sizes of our XS 650's. I did.... Particularly for the 16" rears of the "Special's".
Here's a list I put together of those that I've tried or know of that all fit...
Hi,
what is the maximum width that you can use for front and rear tire on a XS with stock front end and rear swingarm.
We can't use hardtail frame here so I'm looking for other options. I wanted to go with a wide hardtail and a 180 rear tire but I can't. The laws in Quebec don't allow...
I've been doing my research on tires and sizes and just wanted to make sure i'm making the right decision before I purchase them.
For my front tire I'm thinking the Dunlop K81/TT100GP 100/90H19 TL
and For my rear, the Dunlop K81/TT100GP 110/90H18 TL
Does that sound right?
Thanks...
Hey again...
Not sure if I should start a dozen different threads for all my different questions or just spit it all in one but I'm also looking for some new tires. Any opinions on whitewalls?
I've got the standard 19" front and 16" rear. I think 130 is the maximum width for the latter...

How to read a motorcycle tire
By Bill Andrews
It's a rotten feeling. You look down at your tire, and there's no denying that those nice deep grooves have become a shadow of their former selves. It's a goner, and it's...
