A fuse is a fuse...

Get one that works for your application & is fairly common...

You don't want to be scouring for a glass tube fuse when you're stranded somewhere..

Use an autofuse or a minifuse. Commonly found in every car newer than a 1980ish.. I have no idea what year they switched over.. you get the idea.

I like the Radio Shack fuse holders, they have the cover.
On the wiring, use 14 gauge from battery to main 20 amp fuse, And from the reg/rec to the battery. From the main fuse to the key switch can be 14 gauge wire. From the key to the rest of the fuses 14 gauge. Depending on the load, 16 or 18 gauge will work.
Things that draw more power like the headlight needs 16 gauge wire. The horn works better with 16 but 18 will work. Things like turns and brake light can use 18 gauge. Ignition can use 18.
