Hey guys,
I'm about to build a 21" wheel for my xs, and just got the rim back from sandblasting. It came from a xt550 and was in kinda rough shape on the inside of the rim. The rust is gonna but the inside is really pitted. Fairly certain it will be fine to use but I wanted to get some other opinions. What do you guys think?

On a steel rim primer or powder coat will help prevent rust. On an alloy rim I might leave it rough. The tire can grip the rim better and less likely to slip. if the tire pressure gets low. If it slips like that it rips the valve stem out of the tube.
On a front wheel that probably won't matter, on a rear it might be more apt to happen.
On my Kawasaki H1 500 it had three bead locks on the rear wheel. A real PITA when changing tires but....
