Measured each installed height of each valve spring and made seats to suit, there are slight variations left to right and big variation inlet to exhaust.
Zach Jones at RD Spring was a great help- he made me up some custom spring seats to fit over my valve guides because they are different to the Yamaha ones. They all had plenty of extra height so I could machine them down to suit.
Here is a finished one next to an unfinished one.
Finished and ready to install
Had to make a new adaptor for my valve spring compressor, the Titanium tops are smaller than the stock Yamaha. It's made out of an old fork tube!
Cam is now finished, the sprocket is a modified stock item. It has had the sides machined off it, slotted holes machined in for adjustment, and degree marks machined in for easy 'dialing in'
Looks like you will be out kicking butts soon. Cam looks good. Good outfit R/D spring. Helped me with some spring numbers at a different installed height. Nice job on the spring compressor. Motor looking great.
It's gunna have to run dry! The clutch shaft is solid, there is no oil feed to any of the gears or the clutch. For the few hours of work this thing will get, it will probably be ok
To get a real 1 off look I decided to cast some side covers and oil filter covers.
Heating the metal in a propane fired furnace that I made from a beer keg.
My Old man does a bit of backyard foundry work. Still learning but getting some good results!

External Filter/Cooler pipes need to be cut to length and set in position, but I won't do this until it is sitting in the frame so I can make sure it clears the front engine mount.
The EML in the middle of the cover is the brand of frame this motor will be going in
Here is another EML of the same era- my next project when the Yamaha is finished. 1000cc 2stroke.....
Hi Paul, I made up the patten out of a blank alternator cover that I machined up a few years ago. I just sat it straight in the box and didn't bother mounting it on a board because we made so few.
Great to know that there is a patten maker on here, someone to bounce ideas off.
Do you have experience in casting as well?
