So I apparently bought a rare pair of rides...2 '73 650's. One red, one blue...I'm guessing they're tx650's. Long story short...I'm trying to get the front forks apart and I'm stuck. I've read Hugh's blog (awesome), but my forks are obviously different. I got the cap off the upper and the 8mm bolt on the lower spins with an allen wrench, but what do I need to connect to the super-extension to the other side? It's not one of those chopped up 17 mm sockets is it? It looks much smaller than 17mm?

You will need one of these from Dennis Stubblefield Sales tool# 34 to work on the TX forks. I tired to make my own, but they just kept braking and a long 3/8 extension.

Didn't realize that was an actual tool - thought I had to chop up a socket so thanks.

So based on your response, are you saying that 73 forks come apart just like other years? I've read that they are entirely different than the 34 and 35 mm forks on 75-8?.
