'74 TX650 Build (monoshock)

I think I only came across one single tube glass fuse on the bike so far.

I would really like to upgrade a reg/rec device as having two regulators and then a crappy open rectifier is too much wasted space.

It's a 74, and even after doing research, I can't quite find what I'm looking for. I don't want to do a radio shack job, I want something clean.

I like it. The only thing different I would do is extend the swingarm 4" to give it longer look. I am doing one now with a GPZ900 swingarm café style like this last one I did. GREAT JOB and I will send you pictures of battery box that I made up that holds battery/fuse block/boyer box and key switch if you email me at DADDYGCYCLES@YAHOO.COM

That's a pretty big rear sprocket.
Forgive me, I've lost track, but were you planning on running a high-ratio primary to compensate?

it is huge eh? I think its 43 teeth, but I will be adapting the stock rear sprocket as I dont think Ill be able to find an SV650 one thats small enough.

Hey DaddyG, Ill fire you an email right now. Thanks!

Also, where is everyone buying their modern Reg/Rec from? is there something in stock somewhere that I can do pick up?

I sent you some pictures of the battery boxes. First one not going to use . Second one fit everything I needed . Battery/ fuse block/ Boyer I got / let switch/ and flasher for turn signals. First box was just a little short for the seat that is going on bike.

Looks good DaddyG. That's essentially the same route I'll be taking, thanks.

I'm searching everywhere for reg/rec combos that will work with my 1974. All I can find is people asking and no actual part numbers. I read about nylon screws, how to wire them up, radio shack blah blah...no help. I want something simple and small.

I don't want to start a new thread as this has been discussed in almost perfect detail.

I think you can buy and use the TC Brothers REG/REC they sell that replaces what you have but you may also want to buy the wire kit too. I have newer alternators if you need to upgrade. Shipping is not that bad in flat rate box and I do have the TC Brother wire kit $75.00 for both plus the shipping if you are interested.

I went the the vr115 regulator I believe as I don't need nylon screws for that one. As for a rectifier, I'm looking around locally for a 3 phase 50 amp bridge rectifier.

Here's what I'm thinking so far for electrical box..It's a little more cramped than I had anticipated so in order to make it useful I will have to delete the Safety Relay for the starter as well delete the Reserve Light Unit. I will be doing this with jumpers and not butchering the stock harness. Everything I do I want to be quasi-easy to undo.

Took off a side so you can see the space inside.
And that's a mock up battery slightly larger than the new one to allow for rubber or form isolation.

Still need to trim up a few things and weld it together. Chances are I'll have to do spool gun as my Tig is down.

I think I'm going to ditch the SV650 wheel and disk brake set up. It shares the same diameter axle as the XS so I'll pop that one back in.
This way I retain the sprocket, brake, and most importantly - SPOKES :D

Edit:
I think I like it more. Just need to smarten up the fender struts now that it's skinny bitty on the rear.

I really like that battery box. The way you made it fit the space, with a very unique shape. Way to think outside of the box! :D

looks good, you might want to put an idler wheel for the drive chain with the rear axle sitting lower the chain will get progressively looser as the swing arm rises,,(fit the chain and take the shock off to check the action) i can show you my simple fix for the issue if you like.
