Have a 79 Special w/ tubeless mags. 19 F /16 R.

I live well off the tarmac and need tires with some meat.

Like to hear some comments and/or see some pics of some Shinko 244's on an XS.

Debating the following set ups:

1) Running tubes on a tubeless rim with Shinko 244's front and rear

OR

TKC 80(tube type) Front and Duro 904 (Tubeless rear)

I've been running a set of tubed Avon Speedmasters on mine and it's treated me right. A good friend has some Shinkos he just picked up, and I'm impressed with the quality. They're rated pretty high as well.

Turns out I have tube type mag wheels.

Tried the Shinko 244's and were too small for my taste. They only came in one size in 19 & 16 in tires. Front was okay but a bit narrow, rear looked like a moped tire.

To recap, the Shinko 244's are not a good fit for the 19/16 mag wheel combo.

Ended up with the TKC 80 100/90/19 (tube type) Front and Duro 904 130/90/16 (Tube type) Rear set up.

I did see Shinko makes another model, the 241 that comes in a suitable size for a 19 in front wheel a 3.50/19. Maybe next time?

Cheers.......

Sure thing!

You already posted what I was coming to post. I have a 79' Special and my mags are not tubeless.

I have that same exact rear tire you just put on (The Duro) waiting for my wheels to come back from powdercoating. I went with a (slightly less aggressive) Kenda for the front though.
