This is reference to those damn dampers that go between the upper gauge bezel and gauge cup, made of a foam type material.
For a 76, how can each side foam damper be the same part, consdering the speedo needs the loop for the trip meter , you know, the knob that everybody has a problem removing?
Or do they only make one side now due to costs?

Referencing to 77 and up by experience those foam dampers are both the same part. The tach side just simply does not utilize the molded loop which the speedometer trip meter does utilize .
I’ve noticed in the Yamaha Shop that an SR400 may share dampers with our old XS’s ? Not sure yet ..

Partzilla has 'em in stock. Fits 76 and up.... and yeah... sr400

Just an FYI for those that have some beat gauges beyond mechanical repair or whatever. There's a rubber damper located between the glass and the gauge face that makes a reasonable replacement.....reasonable is the key word. Just have to work the metal bezel off for access.
