Anyone have any experience or knowledge about Janus Motorcycles?

Discussion in 'The Garage' started by shawnkva, Mar 9, 2019.

  1. I really like this bike. Don't know why, but this is my style. This one is the Halcyon 250.

That's my idea of a bobber, full fenders, fender stays, utility/luggage option, needs some fringe. Some cool things there, I put that site on my favorites bar for the cool pictures. I don't care for the tank or the rectangle frame, but hey, they were going for the pre-knucklehead 1900's, and they did well.

Looks interesting, but not for the $7k price.

  4. I like the front suspension. Shock type instead of forks. Wonder if they'll ever build any bigger than a 250. They are spendy though. I have a 1973 CB200 that needs a resto. Might try to replicate that Janus look.

If you want to look like you built a custom looking motorcycle just build it yourself or pay a shop to build your bike up. Same thing.

And another $2300 with the extras............Why a leading link front end????............that's usually a sidecar requirement..........

Goshen Indiana, not far from Elkhart Indiana. That whole area is RV manufacturing, not far from me.

Anyone recognize that engine? China, India, Korea, Russia...…..The engine size makes me think India.

All their bikes look nice. Very unique looking. But for 7 grand a bit pricey. For that money you could get a RE twin or for less a RE single. Hell for 7 grand you could buy a very nice 650 Yamaha.

Yeah, $7,000 for Briggs&Stratton horsepower. You could buy an unfinished TC Bros hardtail project, and that engine/tranny, style it like that for a small total price, even sell the XS engine.

What a Junk Ass POS.:poo: I`m not one for stock off the showroom bikes but if I were I`d choose any restored XS650 over this Turd. This thing has got CHINK written all over it. I feel better now. Good thing this is a forum! Just my :twocents: :bs::boxing::gun::devil::cussing::wtf:

A bobber, a tracker and a cafe style. Looks like they're cashing in on current trends.

I would rather have a mint xs1 over this of course. I can only imagine the depreciation of this China clone, in 10 years you would be LUCKY to sell it for $700

    Hi halfmile,
aren't those the folks who just planted a garden on the moon?
    Remember the moon?
Same place the US got to 50 years ago but lost the bottle to get back to?
Surely those same Chinese can build a decent engine?
And the only Chinese thing about the bike IS the engine.
The concept and design features of those bikes say "Greeves" to me.
Same small business branching out into the motorcycle field with a skinny tube frame, leading link front end and BOF power unit.
As for the ~$7K price, it's the US wages the US Mfrs pay their workers what's doing it.
Try paying US wages to build an Indian Royal Enfield or to restore an XS650 and see what they'd cost then, eh?

I saw a documentary a while back but can’t remember the name for the life of me. It was a road trip out to the west coast on one of these with a sidecar. It was pretty pathetic as top speed was only around 50. They didn’t make it far before there was catastrophic failure of some sort, maybe wheel bearings or hub issue, can’t remember. They had to abandon the bike and buy something bigger.

***edit for the show name on Netflix was “Flying Dutchman”

If they can call HD "Hardly Ableson", imagine the fun they could have with "Janus".

    $7000???

I'd have to be knee-walking, commode-hugging drunk to pay HALF of that for that thing! WTF are they thinking?
