After a nearly a six month break from working on and building XS's i'm back and this time with an uber clean (for MN) Heritage Special.

Had an affair with XT500's and 550's over the winter

Feels good to be back on here for a reason.

Already started it's conversion into a cafe racer. I've done bobbers, scramblers, a street fighter/cafe mix on a CB750.... a 250 rear tire, with a ducati 1098 tail on a cb900... just about everyting but a true cafe build. So this bike is going to get done up over the winter with some cowling.

Anyway...15000 miles. New tabs, and oil from the P.O. and it was gifted to me for free. I didn't think it could get any better, until I cleaned the carbs tonight and it started, (and has started) on the first kick since. (Put 50 miles on it just now with a few stops and i'm seriously impressed.) It's a very nice change to get my hands on a bike that was maintained well by the P.O. The XS gods have shined down on me with this one.

P.S. Still debating on gixxer front or XS front for the XT500 build...any input? (see pics)

Tell me about it! I picked up a mint, xs400 with the drum brake front end. 2000 original kms. To bad the tank is rotten from moisture. The rest of it looks like new. But, i have always wanted a scrambler/desert sled. So, got a great platform to start. Ebaying all those mint parts should get me some good coin. Also, the bs34 on 400 are damn nice carbs compared to our epa ones.
