I have a 79 special that wasnt running to good when I purchased it so the first thing I did was tear off the carbs and give them a good cleaning. The bike ran much better once the carbs where clean but it sometimes will backfire through the right side carb at about 1/3 throttle.
I didnt sync my carbs per say. I just counted the amount of turns I dialed out the adjuster and set it back to the same setting when I put the carbs back on. I have had luck with this in the past but perhaps it didnt work this time.
So my question would be, is the backfire a possible problem of unsynced carbs? Or would it more likely be a valve or timing problem? I didnt notice it before I took the carbs off but the bike would barely run at 1/3 throttle before I cleaned the carbs, so I am unsure if it was a preexisting problem.
Thanks for the help
