At the very minimum you need a battery, a kill switch, the points, condensors and coil as far as electronics go for kick starting. That is assuming it still has the points type ignition. Before trying to kick start it make sure that you check cam chain tension, valve gap, compression and clean and gap the points otherwise you could be trying start a motor that is way out of adjustment and unlikely to start.
I have a wire with an on off switch I clamp on the plus battery terminal that plugs in to the the two coil hot leads, if the condensers and points are still hooked up that's all she needs for ignition. Don''t forget to shut the switch off while fiddling, coils HATE sitting still with 12 volts on them.
