I have a bent seat lever bracket (LH) on my recently acquired '82 Heritage Special. It's the bracket that is welded onto the frame and not the one that's bolted on. Refer to images.

My seat won't properly lock into place. Distance (inner) between the slots is 215 mm whereas the distance on the seat is 210 mm, so bracket is bent outward by ~5 mm.

Is removal of the fixed bracket and re-welding the best option (I don't weld) or can I simply use a pry bar (or BFH) to get it back in proper alignment?

Thanks.

Heatgun could make it more difficult and may not help...

Will likely be a combo of a BFH used against a strategically-placed pry bar.

Lesson learned: Don't take a pic of anything lying atop a $1 fluorescent yellow sheet of poster board unless you want an odd effect upon your subject.... :wink2:

This is rather common, my 82 has the same problem. Seen it on other 81-83's too. Tell us how the BFH therapy goes?
