Better than Deals gap?

I'm running up the Anderscoggin River here in Maine this afternoon. Older "unimproved" river roads of the east are generally lots of fun. I know a lot of stuff up your way looks fun on the DeLorme's map.

When in the flatlands, the best roads follow rivers. I did some of that in Minnesota several years ago. Fun!

Deals Gap has turned into Mecca for motorcyclists. It's extremely tight and slow, with a lot of traffic on the weekends. It isn't a suitable replacement for a racetrack. There are usually police watching it, and there is no good place to make a mistake. To make it more of a challenge, there are usually people there doing stupid things. I have better favorites. Just the same, that's the place you go, get you pic taken and tell your friends you've made the pilgrimmage.
