82-83 Heritage Specials had black cases and many other black parts the 83 went back to more chrome pieces but still had black cases.
Here's a shot of one looks to be very stock.

The black paint typically faded badly, especially the carbs and cylinders.

Oh yes, my '84 Canadian model Heritage Special came with a blacked out engine.
NOT a PO job, I bought it new.
Looks just like Gary's photos except mine came with 7-spoke cast wheels (and a 36T rear sprocket! What's with putting sidecar gearing on a solo?)
The blacked out head and barrels made me smile because back in the day we used to paint our cast iron heads and barrels with aluminum paint so folks would think we had all aluminum racebike engines.
Over the years my head & barrel paint has entirely faded away but the cases are still as black and shiny as a Mercury outboard.
