Well you can have a two wire tail light or a Three wire.
TWO wire is just BRAKE LIGHT and RUNNING LIGHT GROUND is BOLT CONNECTION TO FRAME
THREE wire is BRAKE LIGHT RUNNING LIGHT AND A GROUND WIRE
NOW DON'T FORGET THE BRAKE SWITCH on the other side. BRAKE SWITCH is TWO WIRE one HOT and the other to BRAKE LIGHT Both Front and Back Brake switch work by them self.
Best way to figure everything out is test light and this way you can tell what color wire is what. AFTERMARKET TAIL LIGHT sometime don't use RED hot BLACK GROUND the colors are different.
