Took a short test ride. 1 mile. I noticed this when I got to the grocery store. Luckily I was only a mile from home. I was able to ride home carefully, holding the bold with my left heel. The broken part was on my garage floor when I got home. Must have been a stray boot while kicking. I dont know what else it could have been??? Anyway. Gotta get a new one. Frame is an 81.

Looks like I broke the bolt to me. Opinions?

Could I retain the grease fitting?

XS650.com to the rescue !!!!!

Part #27-1067 Bolt ?? Correct??

When I get to the suspension I will replace the bushings and everything in the swing arm. Maybe even go to the needle bearings.

One of the foible's of the XS.
The full threaded replacement you listed the part number for is a better part.
With losing it at the house and such a short ride you misssed the excitement of hearing it POP when it breaks on the road and the feeling of 20 more horses of torque when you give it the gas. It kinda humps up like the motor is trying to pull the end of the frame in two. Oh wait....... it is.
