Hi guys,

I am confused about this brown wire in the picture that comes out from the stator. I circled what I thought it would be a connector, but I wasn't sure.

Could you please let me know what was that I circled in the picture?

Also, the diagram supposed to be for an 1981 XS650, the stator has no RED wire coming out, and my bike does. I can see that the brown wire connected indirectly to the battery then goes to the license plate lamp as a blue wire.

Thank you in advance

Yes, that's a connector.
Often the brown wire on the stator looks red. Look at the brushes, one wire is green the other is the brown or red wire.
The green wire goes to the reg/rec. It is a ground wire. The reg/rec controls alternator output by controlling the ground.
The brown or red wire supplies battery voltage to the brush so the reg/rec has something to ground.
